4th Straight Year: Obama Thanksgiving Resolution Doesn’t Thank God
For the fourth straight year, the Thanksgiving resolution from President Barack Obama fails to actually thank God — which is the fundamental reason why Thanksgiving is observed.
But, to President Obama, Thanksgiving is about food and football, according to his official remarks as distributed by the White House.
“For us, like so many of you, this is a day full of family and friends; food and football. It’s a day to fight the overwhelming urge to take a nap – at least until after dinner,” Obama said.
In other the third paragraph of the Thanksgiving message, Obama moves on to politics.

SteveR, I'm sorry that I didn't respond sooner. I had stopped following this thread, so I didn't notice your comment.
Now, I'm not sure what we are all supposed to be guilty of, but in my opinion, you are probably still trying to deconstruct things like the emergent church does. Let me see how this would work; if we are all guilty of something, then we shouldn't speak out against it?

I mean really the man believes sodomy is ok and an abortion is the best thing since sliced bread. Stop looking to elected officials to uphold Christianity.

“Now therefore I do recommend and assign Thursday the 26th day of November next to be devoted by the People of these States to the service of that great and glorious Being, who is the beneficent Author of all the good that was, that is, or that will be. That we may then all unite in rendering unto him our sincere and humble thanks – for his kind care and protection of the People of this Country previous to their becoming a Nation.” Says George Washington of Thanksgiving.
'“It has seemed to me fit and proper that they should be solemnly, reverently, and gratefully acknowledged, as with one heart and one voice, [...] to set apart and observe the last Thursday of November next as a day of thanksgiving and praise to our beneficent Father who dwelleth in the heavens,” he [Abraham Lincoln] wrote."
I admit, after reading the words of president's, George Washington and Abraham Lincoln, President Obama's, words regarding Thanksgiving seem rather underwhelming. It is my hope that President Obama's private 'prayer closet,' is filled with fluid grace and thanksgiving towards God our Father and The Lord Jesus our Saviour. For, prayers of public display are of no effect, unless a man has his private time with God, his Maker, and Redeemer, with all humility, respect, and reverence.
Neil, Steve...I believe you both make fine points. Obama is a salesman who soothes itching ears. I found it sadly ironic I had to vote against the "Christian" and for the candidate whose doctrinal and theological beliefs I differ with and yet who holds pragmatically to the values Christianity does....sanctity of life, family and so on. He could have read from the Bible on the nature of God and I would not have placed no stock in his leadership or convictions.
I believe the headline and article were about the fact that he did not thank God, not that he did not mention God. Also, I would believe that Psalm 50:22,23 (NKJV)"Now consider this, you who forget God, Lest I tear you in pieces, And there be none to deliver: Whoever offers praise glorifies Me; And to him who orders his conduct aright I will show the salvation of God." and Psalm 150:6 "Let everything that has breath praise the LORD. Praise the LORD!" would indicate it is proper for the president to render thanks unto God.

"As a nation, we’ve just emerged from a campaign season that was passionate, noisy, and vital to our democracy. But it also required us to make choices"
For Liberals and Socialists 'god' is the people and what they can achieve by human means. For Liberal Socialist politicians 'god' is government.

1) I did read the article, & he mentioned god only in a cliché. I didn't choose the headline; 2) Since you want to quibble, only one President established the holiday (Lincoln), not many.

God-talk is cheap when it's not in context. Perhaps LifeNews has drunk a little from the cup of that bastion of religious formalism, the RCC.

Proverbs 29:2 When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice: but when the wicked beareth rule, the people mourn.

"For although they knew God, they did not honor him as God or give thanks to him, but they became futile in their thinking, and their foolish hearts were darkened. Claiming to be wise, they became fools, ... Therefore God gave them up in the lusts of their hearts to impurity, ... And since they did not see fit to acknowledge God, God gave them up to a debased mind to do what ought not to be done."
