Opinion: How the Gospel Produces Reformation in Marriage

The period of the Reformation in the history of the Christian church marks a time of renewal and hope due to the basic message of Christianity....it is a message of God's grace and forgiveness which is freely given through faith in Christ....rather than something that is earned by man's efforts and works. Martin Luther was one of many people during that time some 500 years ago who came to understand that salvation is a free gift....and that the Gospel is a life-changing message.

In fact, Luther stated, "When I finally came to understand God's righteousness and that His Son has paid my debt already....and that He now pardons me from all my guilt and declares me innocent and not guilty....I felt like I was born again and the gates of heaven swung wide open for me and I was free." ...

"Shocking statistics released by Net Accountability reveal that 50 percent of evangelical pastors viewed pornography last year."

___

"100 years ago almost all churches forbade divorce.

"Today most modern churches allow divorce.
Mennonites and Hebrews are clearly in the minority, yet modern popular religious tradition and Church history are poisoned wells, and the only reliable light will come from scripture.

"One of the main hinges of modern church's errant belief is that if one party breaks the covenant, the other party is magically released from the deal.

"That sounds reasonable enough at first, but that's not how a scriptural covenant works.

"Galatians 3:15 "no one can set aside or add to a human covenant that has been duly established."

"So my counsel from the Scripture is for people to marry (no more than) once, and never divorce.

"The above is impossible to disprove from a solely scriptural argument."

___

If these 100,000 evangelical pastors who struggled with pornography last year were to follow this advice, their divorce rate could be reduced.
