Obama Asks for Prayer on Budget Deal

Taking a break from deficit negotiations for a whirlwind tour of southeast Asia, President Obama joked this afternoon as he toured a sacred Buddhist temple that he could use some prayer to help reach a budget deal.

"We're working on this budget, we're going to need a lot of prayer for that," the president told a monk at the Wat Pho Royal Monastery.

The president later explained the quip at a joint press conference with Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra. "I always believe in prayer," he said. "If a Buddhist monk is wishing me well, I'm going to take whatever good vibes he can give me to try to deal with some challenges back home." ...

Buddhists are atheists so who are they going to pray too? Many commentators don't even consider it to be a religion. Followers of human philosophy??

Being a Liberal Obama would be right at home practising vacuous pagan pursuits.

The only prayer the president wants is that no one will wake up to the fact that *he* is the lead-footed driver of the destination "fiscal cliff" bus. Now that the precipice is in sight, he yells out the window and criticizes the House of Reps for not agreeing to a "balanced approach" (whatever that means)to keep the bus he's driven at breakneck speed for 4 years from going over.

He might as well get prayer from that monk because, as we all know, the only prayer that God is going to honor from this man is the prayer of repentance.
