Did Pornography Contribute to Jessica Ridgeway's Murder?
Reports this week indicate that the accused killer of 10-year-old Jessica Ridgeway of Colorado, who disappeared on Oct. 5 and whose dismembered body was found several days later, was a boy who was addicted to pornography.
“News that the boy accused of killing Jessica Ridgeway is addicted to pornography will come as no surprise to law enforcement agents with experience in sexual crimes,” says Patrick A. Trueman, president of Morality in Media and former chief of the U. S. Department of Justice Child Exploitation and Obscenity Section in Washington, D.C.
“Pornography consumption causes addiction and leads many, children included, to sexual violence. It’s high time the U.S. government took the issue of pornography seriously again and began vigorously prosecuting the major producers and distributors of hardcore pornography.”...

That would hold true if I was saying that the only reason the murderer killed the girl was strictly due to his pornographic addiction. Not all who are addicted to pornography end up as murderous pedophiles. I have not and am not saying that. Your generalization of my statement is also a logical fallacy. The Lord Jesus said that,"For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications..." (Matthew 15:19) It was the evil that was in his heart, part of which included his addiction to child porn, that was the cause of his actions. Keep thy heart with all diligence for out of it are the issues of life (Proverbs 4:23) is meaningless if what we take in has no outward affect on what we do. How can a young man cleanse his way by taking heed to thy Word (Psalm 119:9)becomes a false statement if what we take heed to has no affect on our actions. I will meditate in thy precepts, and have respect unto thy way. (Psalm 119:15)Why bother, if what we think about has no affect on how we act. Through your precepts I get understanding: therefore I hate every false way (Psalm 119:104) One affected the other.

Kyle, have to agree that it is unrestrained sinful nature every time. Guns were used to carry out the massacre in Columbine, they did contribute to the thinking (motive) behind it. Pornography was not used to carry out the crime against Jessica but definitely contributed to the thinking behind it. The Bible reminds us that as a man thinks in his heart so is he, and that out the heart procedures sexual immorality and murders. I would believe that the pornography did contribute to the actions of the murderer and the choices he made.
Matt 5:28 But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart. 29 And if thy right eye offend thee, pluck it out, and cast it from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not that thy whole body should be cast into hell.
19 Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness,... 21 .... that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.
