Experts: Hackers will crack election systems

The result of an election will be changed by hackers, the only question remaining for an online security expert is which election will it be.

ā€œI’m somewhat surprised it hasn’t happened yet,ā€ said Stephen Cobb, a security evangelist for ESET-North America, an IT security company, in a recent article in Dark Reading.

With the U.S. presidential election turning into a dead heat, every vote is going to count, but if some hackers had their way, your vote won’t matter.

John UK -- more and more are being converted to electronic. there's no way to recount or even to know that your vote was done correctly. already people reporting that a different name is coming up when they touch the screen.

american elections were locally controlled. was the original concept for checks and balances.

through computer systems this can be circumvented.

in over 525 jurisdictions (many states) -- results go to private server -- which is globally owned, and now consolidating with other similar companies to run elections in places, say like the UK, according to the Drudge Report in article, "Foreign Company Buys US Election Results Reporting Firm".

But it took someone from the UK to actually ask the question.

Interesting.

and those lines between gov and coorp muddied again, as a private global (foreign) company now holds the responsiblity, that before all this technology was in the hands of public servants.

but yes, let's get worried about the boogeyman.

once again, total silence from the candidates allegedly running to represent the Am people, and the american church "leadership" this will be an interesting month.

The Supreme court upheld the law that was written in Florida constitution which is more than the Florida supreme court did. Also, predictably all the liberal media groups went down to Florida after the election and recounted every ballot. Did not matter HOW they did their count, Bush won, and by a larger margin. That didn't fit their premises so it was not widely reported. Speaking of democratic corruption, the complaints were numerous in Nevada that no matter which lever you pulled in the primaries, Harry Reid got the vote. Now we even have on video a democratic party representative helping a women vote in two states and another one helping a guy to falsely vote on the behalf of 100 people. One democratic lady handing out multiple voter registration cards to Obama supporters and advising a Romney supporter she could not do that. You know, the voter fraud that doesn't exist.

Is the election to be done electronically this year?

Big mistake if so!

wow, the spinning already beginning!

people are already reporting voting where the computer switches their votes. (local news stations covering this)

and the system is run by a foreign company with political ties.....

there's no way to prove an election.

until paper ballots come back, there will never again be a way to feel confident that the results are accurate.

funny how the boogeyman is always to blame..... how about getting things done right in the first place, and then we can all wring our hands about the boogeyman?

wonder if exit polling will be done this year.
