Moderator of the Church of Scotland: ‘Don’t force the church on children’
THE Moderator of the Church of Scotland has warned that children should not be forced to attend kirk services as it risks putting them off religion.
The Rt Rev Albert Bogle believes it may be counter-productive for the iPod generation to have to sit on pews and be made to listen to ministers “rabbiting on”.
Instead, Bogle, who was appointed at the Kirk’s General Assembly earlier this year, says young people are more likely to become churchgoers if parents and grandparents first start informal faith discussions in the family home.

Artile says... young people are more likely to become churchgoers if parents and grandparents first start informal faith discussions in the family home.
If only we can get that into the thick skulls of most IFKVBOB parents.
"THE Moderator of the Church of Scotland has warned that children should not be forced to attend kirk services as it risks putting them off religion"
He is correct.
The Church of Scotland has been putting people off Christianity for years.
The Kirk has been UnBiblical and UnChristian for years.
The Church of Scotland is Liberal and therefore serves Satan. They are a false witness. They wouldn't know the Bible from the Bus timetable - just like the Church of England.
Biblical Christians do not attend the National churches of the UK.
2Peter 2:1 But there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privily shall bring in damnable heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them, and bring upon themselves swift destruction. 2 And many shall follow their pernicious ways; by reason of whom the way of truth shall be evil spoken of.
"The 63-year-old minister [moderator], who delivered a sermon to mark the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee and welcomed the Dalai Lama to Scotland, has also claimed that people are as likely to find God in the coffee chain Starbucks as they are in church."
