What need does France have for GMO produce from culinary philistines like Anglo-Americans, who are more concerned with efficiency than flavor?

”The 1st condition for a great cuisine is in the land, & France can fortunately provide a high quality of almost everything edible, like pré salé lamb, Charollais beef, Normandy butter, Adour salmon, Nante ducks, Périgord truffles, & Loire asparagus.“ – Sanche de Gramont
