The Parliament of Australia has overwhelmingly rejected attempts to legalise gay marriage in two decisive votes.
MPs voted against redefining marriage by 98 votes to 42. And a similar measure was defeated in the Australian senate by 41 votes to 26.
Prime Minister of Australia, Julia Gillard, was personally opposed to redefining marriage but she allowed her Labor party members to vote according to their conscience.
The leader of the Australian Christian Lobby, Jim Wallace, said the Parliament has now expressed a decisive view on the matter....

I hope we see a similar result in Westminster with David Cameron and his coalition partners the Lib Dums, - sorry Dems.
Cameron at party conference has already suggested that the abominable marriage is on the cards for debate. Perhaps the Lord may remove him before then but it has to come eventually - Satan's political will.
The Lib Dems wouldn't know morals from a double decker bus so there is no hope there. The socialists are so blinded by something rediculous as artificial equalities in every corruption that there is very little hope there either.
As for Scotland, the scottish numpty party is trying to scrape every vote from under ever dirty little stone they can get to stay in power and get independence. Therefore Bible and Morals would only get in their way.
An honest analysis unfortunately can only come up with a cynical conclusion. Basically the ALP of which Gillard is the leader is on the nose in the electorate. They have lost every state election since the last federal election & also almost every major municipal election as well. They hold power from a minority of parliamentary votes via an alliance with the greens & a few so called independents. Gillard herself is the most hated politician on the federal level that I can remember. She is playing a numbers game it's as simple as that. The greens insisted that the gay marriage issue be put to a parlaimentary vote so she went along with it in order to retain their support. By making it a conscience vote for her own party (which is very unusual for the ALP) she ensured that the vote would not pass. . Result = Gillard tells her green partners in government that she tried but it failed & yet she doesn't risk further unpopularity by enacting legislation that has not been tested via policy announcements at a federal election, which is the precise reason she is already so massively unpopular. Frankly I do not believe the woman has a shred of morality or the fear of God in her. She is cold, dishonest, manipulative, & incompetent. This is proven by the way she first came to power
One should not think that P.M. Gillard has gotten religion, apparently she though he vote was a politically astute move, on queer marriages considering some her earlier actions -- Print Email Facebook Twitter More Gillard pulls out of Christian Lobby speech in gay marriage row. Since we have Christians from Australia check in from time to time, it would be interesting to get their viewpoint on the vote.
