Akin got in trouble for saying in a "legitimate rape" the woman's body rejects rapist sperm so she won't get pregnant. Mike Huckabee emailed a furious defense of Akin Thursday, saying the Republican Party had betrayed a man who "owned his mistake." The threatening tone was picked up by other conservatives Friday. At World Net Daily, Diana West says that Akin "recanted" his "perplexingly ignorant" views, so the Republican Party should quit "ostracizing" him, or else. Also, let's not forget "the products" of rape that have had their innocent lives snuffed out by supposedly intelligent medical doctors/nurses, etc. As for me, I'll stand with those whom the world laughs at and mocks for being more Biblical minded than "scientific."
I agree with you Angela; the main issue is the killing of the innocent. They have changed the issue to Akin's thoughts about rape and conception versus abortion. In that way they can make it becomes a war on women instead of a war on the unborn. Very clever in a worldly way,and it is the only one that sells politically.

The results of the above truism can be seen, McCaskill leads Akin in Missouri Senate race, new poll shows

Sean Sullivan wrote:
....Akin now trails Sen. Claire McCaskill (D) 50 percent to 41 percent in the St. Louis Post-Dispatch/News 4 poll, which showed him leading the Democrat by 5 points in late July.
excerpt from the above article.

Voters like to be under the delusion that the person they are voting are really as ignorant as they suspect him to be, it's hard to vote for a person that confirms your worst suppositions about him.
