Poll: Americans Split on Mixing Faith and Politics
Americans are about evenly split over whether their religious faith influences their views on political issues, according to a new poll conducted by Barna Group for the American Bible Society.
When asked, "how much would you say your faith influences your views on political issues," a little more than half of the sample (53 percent) answered "a great deal" (27 percent) or "somewhat" (26 percent). A little less than half (45 percent) answered "a little" (14 percent) or "not at all" (31 percent).
The youngest age group, 18- to 27-year-olds, were the most likely to say "not at all" (37 percent). Those aged 47 to 65 were the most likely to answer "a great deal" (33 percent)....
I reject this whole notion completely. Your faith in God shouldn't be a part of who you are it should be all you are. If your faith is all you are it should affect every area of your life not just part of it. This includes politics no area of your lifeshould be off limits to God.
"When asked, "how much would you say your faith influences your views on political issues,""
Apparently some answered (especially young folks) 'not at all.'
That is not real saving faith with the Holy Spirit working in the heart of the individual.
The Holy Spirit, regeneration and faith make a powerfgul change to the sinner and as they grow in knowledge and awareness of God then worldly things pale into insignificance.
The question, How much does faith influence your views on political issues? really stops at the word views. Faith for me has changed everything about my life including my view of society and humanity in all of their influences and institutions. I see the Political institution today as an enemy of family and marriage, indeed as belonging to Satan. Abortion and homosexuality I see as a direct attack upon human society and freedoms of the individual. Science now contends against Scripture and therefore God. Education of children has become a means by which Satan tries to plant his seed of opposition to God and Christ.
Politics and faith meet in the struggle of life in society, community and family and there in core moral values. It is impossible to withdraw faith from issues which involve life and its decisions and choices.
If you have true faith, not just a well dressed Sunday morning kind of faith, then I do not see how in the world your faith would not or could not effect everything in your life. I work for a pretty big organization, I have a really good job. I would quit before I would compromise my faith! It has an impact on my entire life, it can't be shut off.
