Rick Warren's unholy reign as 'America's pastor'

In certain biographical incarnations, Rick Warren likes to say something like: “Wrote some books.” Part of his appeal comes from an alleged folksy approach: I’m just a regular guy, too!

His “Purpose Driven Life” is by now the subject of publishing lore: the second-best-selling book of all time.

It’s when there isn’t an editor around that he gets into writing trouble.

On March 20, “America’s Pastor,” tweeted: “Follow positive tweeps. Unfollow negative twits.”

Note: twits.

are there any organized churches in america that will be saved from the snares of liberalism, zionism and dialectic-corporate- church synergism?

this is a genuine question!

there is nothing in this movement that's the least bit attractive. when I see the bio: Schuller, CFR, etc, I come to the point that I even doubt any originality of thought, is he just a puppet?

Michael Hranek's link is excellent, thank you!

When we left the PDC, we were not told it was PDC, but now I know, as I can see the transformation fits the agenda to the T...... it began when the music was turned up really really loud. old and weak were complaining that it was hurting their ears. They were told, "we are not turning the music down and if you complain you are a sinner!" This was done at the pulpit (as illustration of Christians that are falling away from Christ because of their sin of disturbing God's work). Despite the name "dissenters", the seasoned followers of Christ generally leave pretty quietly. If they want their agendas and global associations that bad, they can have them.

dialectic process means taking unbelievers and believers and having them compromise their beliefs for a new merged belief. this is the strategy of the new world order-- a great PEACE plan.

"Dissenter" reminds me of an old, well research and very much still relevant article Dealing with Resisters of how this (I hate to use the word) pastor who thinks the politcal thug from Chicago who now occupies the White House, deals with "dissenters" who object to his false teachings and behavior that is unfaithful to Christ.

Hope it is a blessing to you. Having had for a time a Saddleback trained (again I hate to use the word) pastor in Tennessee I've seen the PDC/PDL's handling of those who object up close and personal

I would encourage you to NOT be disengenuous (any misspelling are mine alone)

It is one thing to say I won't condemn him, it is quite another to 'justify the wicked' and 'supress the truth in unrighteousness', something those I might call the friends of Rick Warren are (in)famous for doing.

Now since you have brought up 'Calvinism', let's suppose you are a good 'Calvinist' that should enable you to to recall, Satan is the god of this world in its present fallen state and so

and this is a BIG SO who might Bible believing 'Calvinists' imagine Satan the god of this world is promoting and heaping with relgious applause?

I know, I know those who are laying down their lives for the Truth of God's word! NO!

Oh Those who disquise themselves as servants of righteousness, the ones Jesus called wolves in sheep's clothing. Yup, that's the ones Satan would throw his "approval" towards.

MESSAGE
Im in no position to answer for every act of spiritual adultery you want to accuse Warren of. As a strict Calvinist, I would grow weary critiquing his statements & sermons. But that doesnt change my opinion whether he is a Christian or not.

Further..
The man is an honoured Christian that God has entrusted thousands of his sheep to. For all I know, you have caught Warren in the very act of spiritual adultery and have dragged him before the Church demanding his immediate metaphoric stoning. To this, Im still not compelled to condemn him

I will not cast a stone...sorry

Romans 13:7 Render therefore to all their dues: tribute to whom tribute is due; custom to whom custom; fear to whom fear; honour to whom honour.

I dont condemn him. I cant even say that you and fletcher caught him red handed as I dont know his side of the story

MESSAGE

Isn't that the ungodly paraphrase Rick Warren is famous for endorsing and using?

What kind of MESSAGE does a (I hate to use the word about Rick Warren) Pastor give when he invites a pro-abortion, pro-homosexual, pretends to be a Christain lying politican to speak at his church?

And what kind of MESSAGE do the, let's the word, friends of Rick Warren give in their defending of this "change your church to please the world" modern day false prophet give?

Oh! I know, I know, it is something along the lines of: 'we hate you Jesus, we hate you Jesus', we cannot stand Your Holiness, Righteousness and Truth, so we are going to Re_Image You to fit what we approve and want You to be, so we can make merchandise of You and slander those who love You as You Truly are, as the Bible, the Word of God reveals You to be.' 'Why we might even call those broken hearted, repentant born again of the Spirit believers who are zealous for Christ who refused to be decieved on PURPOSE something like 'fools'.

You will get a liberal audience at an UN Interfaith prayer breakfast. The message(& I doubt he would be allowed to say more)

"God doesn't care what religion you are."

works if

if you send out missionaries with the conclusion

"God doesn't care what religion you are, you will die in your sins without Christ"

Because thats the MESSAGE his people are sending out

Romans 10:15 And how shall they preach, except they be sent? as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things!

Rick Warren and his Book the Purpose Driven Life.

"At the same time, I believe that his message distorts the gospel and that he is contributing to the human-centered pragmatism that is eroding the proper ministry and mission of the church. Judging by The Purpose-Driven Life, Pastor Warren’s theology seems to reflect run-of-the-mill evangelical Arminianism, especially with its emphasis on the new birth as the result of human decision and cooperation with grace. There are also heavy traces of Keswick “higher life” teaching throughout the book. None of this disqualifies him from being an evangelical statesman. After all, much the same can be said of Billy Graham. After pointing out how difficult it is to define an evangelical theologically, historian George Marsden famously surmised that it’s “anyone who likes Billy Graham.” Today, perhaps, it’s anyone who likes Rick Warren." Michael Horton

Well, you certainly were kind to me in your response. But it is okay and I'm mad at you in the slightest. I fully understand where you are coming from.

Rick Warren is like a "chameleon" who changes and adapts very well to his audiences. The only ones that he is consistently against are Christian fundamentalists which make up the majority of this board.

"'There are all kinds of fundamentalists," he [Warren] says, listing Christian, Muslim, Jewish, atheist, even secular forms. "I don't happen to agree with any of them."

"Warren predicts that fundamentalism, of all varieties, will be 'one of the big enemies of the 21st century.' ... Muslim fundamentalism, Christian fundamentalism, Jewish fundamentalism, secular fundamentalism - they're all motivated by fear. Fear of each other.'" In 2005, at the Pew Forum of Religion, Warren told the mostly liberal audience:

At the 2005 UN Prayer Breakfast, he told an audience of Christians, Hindus, and Muslims, "God doesn't care what religion you are."

Rick is very good at spinning things he says, just like any false prophet!

Purpose Driven Life (PDL) Book!

"1. The PDL book is permeated with an Arminian approach to theology...
2. There is an emphasis on human works making God happy that seems strange to me. Chapter 9 is called "What Makes God Smile?" Warren says that "the smile of God is the goal of your life." I thought the smile of God was already shining brightly on me, not for anything I do, but because of what Jesus did for me on the cross"
3. The PDL book plays fast and loose with Scripture by relying heavily on paraphrases instead of translations. If a particular paraphrase supports what Warren wants to say, he uses it, in spite of what the scriptural text actually says
4. The underlying premise of the book is false. Warren writes on pages nine and ten: "Whenever God wanted to prepare someone for his purposes, he took 40 days: Noah's life was transformed by 40 days of rain.

It is silly to say that Noah's life was transformed by 40 days of rain. Noah spent over 100 years building the ark, and was a believer and follower of God long before that time." Guidance or Misguided? (M.C. St.John)

But that you illustrate, you give example of what the news story spoke of:
There
1) Over the years I have received his book a few times as gifts. While Im cant endorse it, it doesnt make him 'unholy' as his accuser claims

2) Ive never listened to a sermon of his, but I just read his Churches statement of faith- They look Christian to me

3) I have met and spent time with 2 missionaries of Warrens. This couple is unselfish & spiritual in their zeal to serve the ONE TRUE GOD. There is no guile or strife demonstrated, rather the fruits of the Spirit are manifest. These honourable vessels in the household of God proclaiming the Good News is evidence of the positive fruit of Warren

What is Fletcher? Sowing seeds of strife, doing the devils work accusing my brethren? As far as Im concerned he is a spot, a blemish on the Church, a well without water, a cloud without rain a wicked creature.

Rather than using the net for wickedness, let us exhort our brethren in his Church(10,000 strong?) to build him up spiritually

But that you illustrate, you give example of what the news story spoke of:
There is a propaganda machine, some offically tied to Rick Warren and some who just like his ear tickling false teaching and lies

who object to the truth. Who malign those who by the grace of God and love for the Truth of Scripture can indeed see through Rick Warren's lies and false teaching.

For example Rick Warren said that the pro-partial birth abortion, Muslim enabling, Christian hating (that would be genuine born again Christains in obedience to Christ), pro-homosexual (abomination to God) Barrack Hussein Obama would make a good president before he ever ran for this office and had him speak at Saddleback.

btw the real Jesus doesn't speak well of calling somebody a FOOL Matthew 5:22 and hiding behind a Rick Warren endorsed cleverly reworded paraphrase like the Message won't take away from what Christ says and what you can read for yourself in an accurate and faithful translation.

2 Peter 2:11 Whereas angels, which are greater in power and might, bring not railing accusation against them before the Lord.

2 Peter 2:12 But these, as natural brute beasts, made to be taken and destroyed, speak evil of the things that they understand not; and shall utterly perish in their own corruption;

Yes, you are correct. Christians are to love one another and be unified with on another, but the key thought is Christians. Rick Warren is a false apostle, so why would I be unified with him. What a silly thought.

Ephesians 4:14 As a result, we are no longer to be children tossed here and there by waves and carried about by every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, by craftiness in deceitful scheming;

Matthew 7:15 “Beware of the false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly are ravenous wolves.

Jude 1:3 Beloved, while I was making every effort to write you about our common salvation, I felt the necessity to write to you appealing that you contend earnestly for the faith which was once for all handed down to the saints.

StevenR wrote: 1 John 4:20 If a man say, I love God, and hateth his brother, he is a liar: for he that loveth not his brother whom he hath seen, how can he love God whom he hath not seen?

Rick Warren would have us redefine who Christ is and what a brother/sister is. Matthew 7:15 describes who Rick Warren is; therefore I will love him as my enemy, but not as my brother in Christ.

I am more concerned that Warren, as well as many other so-called Christian leaders, are spreading quack health nonsense, which makes Christianity look bad since these people are high-profile, self-appointed leaders in Christianity.

Fletcher? Who is this Fletcher fool? And whats with the hatchet job on Warren? I just read Fletchers website "The world ends tomorrow in Blue Jazz style"...or some dispensational glitter like that

Whats with these 'Christian Zionists?' Cant they distinguish between the seed of Abraham and a thorn of the pharisees? Warren is planting Churches in the Muslim World, Fletcher just wants to plant strife. What a sad commentary of a self described Christian today to attack his brethren in such cowardly fashion

1 John 4:20 If a man say, I love God, and hateth his brother, he is a liar: for he that loveth not his brother whom he hath seen, how can he love God whom he hath not seen?

What ELSE would or could you expect EXCEPT satanic behavior from someone who claims to be a disciple of Jesus Christ and then sells Him out by agrees to conditions with Caesar , by working deceitful matters -fornicating with the state and stuffing the greedy pocket with their thirty pieces of silver?
Faith based initiatives..this is a not a church but a sold out harlot fully funded by the gvt..it is as much a government office as the military or the department of justice is. Funded by the government it will serve its master ( Mat_6:24 )and obey every depraved rule of fallen men as its supreme headship and leader because covetousness is the end of their conversation. No different than Red China...funded by and it is a government organization. Poor, poor Judas..Poor Esau so stupid.. so ravenous..so blind..
