I expect the mid-east to erupt any day now. All countries involved are currently looking at it either secularly or islamically. But Israel is forecast to return spiritually and find their Messiah. God has NOT cast them off irrevocably. And once the LORD rises up against his enemies, there is no telling what will happen.
Those of us who are Gentiles need to grapple with this subject and try to understand better.

How about God is faithful to maintain His covenant promises to the physical children of Abraham as Paul reiterates in Romans 9-11 as the Gentiles are now grafted in as if they were natural branches, all the while Paul maintaining the distinction between the two people for the purpose of His promises to Abraham, but of course not in Christ. Does Jesus not love the Jewish people and is He not working to fulfill the promises God made to them, to save them and bring them to national repentance and restore them to their land? If not, please give me Scripture to show where God has now cast off the Jewish people completely (and not in a salvific sense, for we all know that outside of Messiah, NO ONE is getting in). Look, if people cannot see the Jew-hating, Christian-hating rhetoric and BELIEFS of men like Ahmednijaad and Islam in general, I do not know what else to say. Because Holocaust denial usually goes hand-in-hand with loving the Jewish people? Come on, man...
If Jesus is a Zionist, why did he come for the whole world, and then tell believers they would have to die to the flesh?
If he came to save the special flesh, the special carnal places of the world, why is there a necessity to pass from life to death to a newer and more enduring life, and why does Revelations teach that the New Jerusalem is in heaven coming down?
Why did Jesus predict the fall of Jerusalem if that is his greatest pride?
His love is for the gathered, redeemed, they are the ones that will not slip from our hands.

I've heard it said that Ahmad never made that comment, but he is completely surrounded by foreign bases all around his country and dictators taken down one at a time, not to say it was anyone's business to do so, the west is the least of those with credibility on this issue.

There is a whole section on the Jerusalem Post devoted to the Iranian Threat. It's a good section to look over about not only Israel's enemy but one to the United States and Western Europe as well.
I remember when looking at school atlases in a shop in Saudi Arabia, they had neatly deleted the word Israel wherever it was written with a thick black felt tip pen.
