An international nonprofit litigation organization dedicated to advancing religious freedom has some advice for the Miami-Dade school district: Don’t go there.
The advice comes from Liberty Counsel, which today said it had sent a letter to the superintendent stating that any effort to rescind a facilities usage lease with a church because of the pastor’s sermon on homosexuality would be a violation of the First Amendment.
The issue arose when Impact Miami Church Pastor Jack Hakimian preached on the biblical position on homosexuality: It’s a sin.
The Miami-Dade County Public Schools then announced it was ‚Äúreviewing‚ÄĚ its lease with the church....
And...the pastor also attacked bullying, so the church wasn't running counter to the school's policies. Of course this should be a given, but the pastor specifically mentioned that in his sermon, so this school is skating on thin ice. Read the article It explains the situation.
As I am not a part of Pastor Jack's congregation, I don't know what he is all about. Although, according to the statement, "homosexuality is a sin", I do know that it is biblical and commend this pastor for speaking God's truth on that matter. I thank God for those that stand in the gap and are human instruments for God's word.
