Catholic Church Paid to Send Obama to an Alinsky-Founded Group’s Community Organizing Training

A new book by conservative icon Phyllis Schlafly and American Spectator journalist George Neumayr exposes never-before-seen documents that purportedly show that the Catholic Church supported, and gave monies to, Barack Obama in the 1980s to attend a community organizing training with the Saul Alinsky-founded Industrial Areas Foundation (IAF). Additionally, in “No Higher Power,” the authors highlight other problematic funding and allegiances between the Church and ultra-liberal causes.

It’s no secret that the left has learned the ropes of using faith and religion for political gain. For years, liberals lamented conservatives’ close allegiance with Christian leaders. But now, in a change of course, they seem to be revving up the engagement and infiltration of faith communities in an effort to harness political power. ...

Aawww shame 'poor' little catholics?

"The Economist estimates the following financial breakdown for the Roman Catholic Church:
•$170 billion is the estimated expenditure of church entities in 2010
•57% of this goes on health-care networks
•28% goes to colleges
•6% to parish and diocesan day-to-day operations
•2.7% to national charitable activities
•$10 per week is the estimated contribution of American Catholics

Americans are the financial backbone of the global church:
•60% of the global church’s wealth comes from the United States
•The United States is the largest contributor to Rome, ahead of Germany, Italy and France. Everything from renovations to St Peter’s Basilica to funding for the Pontifical Gregorian University is largely paid for with American money" (economist)

This is consistant with a number of things that come to mind. I heard Mr. Obama praising Catholic charitiable institutions and stating he'd worked closely with them in Chicago.

I quickly scanned a book that was given to a family member by her local priest. It was very left leaning with an aggressive social agenda.

But Mr. Romney had a priest open in prayer at his weekend campaign rally and quoted from the same Word of God, that tells us we cannot wish him God-speed. What's the difference?
