Biblical references used by both sides in the marriage amendment debate
Both sides on the marriage amendment issue are looking to the Bible to support their views on whether the Minnesota Constitution should restrict marriage to solely between one man and one woman.
The Rev. Jeff Evans, who is pastor of the evangelical Christ Church Twin Cities in Minnetonka, says it's God's will that marriage be reserved solely for a man and a woman, and that the "the Gospels are very, very clear on" it.
But the Rev. Grant Stevensen, pastor at St. Matthew’s, an ELCA church in St. Paul, looks to the Bible's Golden Rule that says: "Treat other people as we would like to be treated."
"I am concerned about the state of Minnesota drawing lines between people," Stevensen said....
But the Rev. Grant Stevensen, pastor at St. Matthew’s, an ELCA church in St. Paul, looks to the Bible's Golden Rule that says: "Treat other people as we would like to be treated." If what I was practicing in my lifestyle, brought the condemnation of "I shall not inherit the kingdom of God", I would want some one to warn me to flee the wrath to come. The golden rule argues against Rev. Stevensen's position not for it.

In other words "Since we Liberals in ELCA are going to hell - We invite you to join us in Satan's religious Liberal journey to hell."
I wonder what other sins ELCA sanctifies?
Isaiah 5:20 Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter! 23 Which justify the wicked for reward, and take away the righteousness of the righteous from him! 24 Therefore as the fire devoureth the stubble, and the flame consumeth the chaff, so their root shall be as rottenness, and their blossom shall go up as dust: because they have cast away the law of the LORD of hosts, and despised the word of the Holy One of Israel

Personally, I wouldn't want to treated like a homosexual. As to the biblical reference, Rev Stevenson is ELCA. More than sufficient info to know his position, without him saying a word.

This is a cop out and NOT what the context is set to provide.
The Bible does not provide this verse to negate the Law of God. Note that Jesus Himself states we are not to change one jot or tittle of the Law. Matt 5:18 "For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled."
The FACT that GOD has ordained that homosexuality is an abomination (OT) - And not natural (NT) is not annulled by this verse.... Matt 7:12 Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them: for this is the law and the prophets.
If we were to use this verse with a homosexual then what we as Christians would be saying is that we would expect others to tell us that homosexuality is a sin and will condemn us to hell. Therefore DO NOT DO IT!!
Stevensen is using the verse to send people to hell by saying its ok to ditch the Law of God and carry on sinning. This is not the way of the Christian.
