Obamacare Makes Christians Complicit in Abortion

The United States Supreme Court voted to uphold the individual insurance requirement of President Obama's Affordable Care Act.

Marjorie Dannenfelser, president of the Susan B. Anthony List (SBA List), maintains that Obamacare is fundamentally flawed legislation because it makes American taxpayers complicit in the deaths of countless unborn children.

As she sees it, Thursday’s decision to uphold the individual mandate to force individuals to purchase health care plans that offend their conscience is incredibly disappointing. ...

Affordable????? ---- A new government actuarial study finds that as a result of the law, health care spending will be $478 billion higher over the next decade than it would have otherwise been had no law been passed. Furthermore, as a result of the health care law, about 50 cents of every dollar of health care spending in the United States will be financed by government by 2021, according to the report from the actuary’s office at the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, unveiled today

Are Christians not just as complicit when their employer's private health plan into which they pay funds abortions?

I don't think the title of the bill was Free Healthcare but "affordable," q.v., AARP Responds to Supreme Court Ruling on the Affordable Care Act. No, there is no free lunch even when people are forced to go to state now for healthcare, the emergency room use cost is just passed on to others who have the ability to pay.

Something of a sad note that actor Andy Griffith died, who was also a supporter of the ACA.

New York Times wrote:
If that weren’t enough to dumbfound the old Mayberry fans, he made a commercial in 2010 extolling President Obama’s health care legislation. Republican politicians and conservative talk show hosts leapt on him mercilessly,...

I think they could again make themselves look better, if they show they want to improve something.

Hopefully, they'll be less interested in making "themselves look better" and more interested in doing the right thing. Tweaking of Obamacare would be like pouring a teaspoon of honey on a turd.

But I'm willing to go along with the wishes of the American people, unlike this administration. We shall see if there are enough liberty-loving Americans left in November to get a new administration to clik on undo.

No one has suggested the above. The point of the website was to demonstrate that there is no truth in saying the republicans refused to work on ACA. Just because they didn't vote for it doesn't mean they didn't try to influence what was rammed through by the democrats. The facts still remain, it is NOT the job of the government to provide healthcare and none of it is free.

Anyway, I would suspect that most of you have looked at that LA Times article and what happened in Nebraska on prenatel care? If you gentlemen don't have that yet in your state, I think having it offered on the contingency of it being given outside the country, would be best for everyone, well except for the Romish Church of course. NumbersUSA is a rather aggressive organization, in fact, I wouldn't exactly give it a blanket endorsement, but look over what they have to say, they might be good for a --few-- pointers.

they were BLOCKED by democrats in control of the committees

Another history lesson, Jim. The ACA was enacted when the Dems had the House, Senate, and White house. The Repubs had no say cause they didn't have the votes.

But the people will ultimately decide how this is going in November. That makes sense don't you think? Are you ok with democracy in action?

No, the prenatal care program in Nebraska had had nothing to do with abortions, one can say it was designed to stop them--among illegal immigrants--in Nebr. Governor, tried to kill the bill. I don't believe in punishing the unborn child for the parents sin,Nebraska Legislature approves prenatal care for illegal immigrants - Los Angeles Times. Perhaps we could have given the mothers a free trip back to their home country, (probably Mexico) and pay for all their expenses in Mexico until after the birth of the baby. Both short term and long term expenses would have been cheaper than either plan of the Gov. or the Unicameral. In any event an unsatisfactory result, since the parents are rewarded. but Nebr. farmers and meat packers love really the illegal immigrant.

The Republicans refused to work on the ACA, so they can't take the high ground of saying they opposed abortion and then walking out if they couldn't get that added to the ACA.

The healthcare system will have to be changed,Give healthcare a chance to evolve.
No such thing as free healthcare or free pregnancy care and women make their own choice to have an abortion. Over 99% of abortions are NOT for rape or incest (not saying those are justifiable reasons) so the women had a choice long before that baby was formed in their womb. It is not the government's or taxpayer if you will, responsibility to provide healthcare. This nation survived for over 150 years with no government healthcare and our population did not decrease because of it.

It's a medical condition which has to have some other ends rather than abortion, which the Republican position on Affordable Health care will force some women to take. If your against abortion you should demand your state have free pregnancy care outside of medical insurance. Why don't you do that?
Your "affordable" health care WILL allow for abortions. Where have you been? My how them Repubs is bad.

Sorry, NY already has enough people demanding the state provide "free" stuff. From elsewhere they come, for NY is so...helpful. That's why the state can't pay its bills, has found novel ways to extract more taxes and fees from working people and corporations, and has seen over 2 million people and very many businesses leave in the last decade.

Consider yourself lucky to live in a so-called red state where you can freely rave on about control-freak Democrat corruption disguised as compassion. Why are liberals so bad at math and history?

Republicans mainly use space-age abortifacient technology to kill off their young.

Democrats still rely on Flintstone-era techniques for the same end.

Of course Republicans may have the greater kill rate according to leading Christian pharmacists.

Jim -- are you saying that pregnant women could get quality care from medical professionals outside of this awful insurance matrix that tells doctors what to do and not to do?

sounds great!

how bout switching everyone back into direct medical care from professionals that go by conscience and oath and experience rather than fear of court, big pharma, and the limited concepts of disease put out by insurance.

now that would be a day of rejoicing!

the more layers you put on the system, the heavier the yoke on the patient and doctor -- that is why communism never works. a man must work and see the fruit of his labor. and a man must then be able to freely give and share that labor with others. that used to be called Christian charity! but some here say that Christian charity isn't the job of the church anymore. (so we see the shutting down of Christian charities for helping community and a centralized system of eugenics to replace it)

which would make my comment a full circle contradiction within an enigma.

Deb Fischer does a little better – her website mentions a “replacement” plan of sorts. Thus during the Republican Golden Age, they were able to ban only this most ghastly form of legal vivisection of a baby.

Not a victory to celebrate nor even one to take much credit for.
