Evangelicals and Catholics Together Getting Born Again
It has been nearly 20 years since leading Evangelical and Roman Catholic scholars in the United States signed an ecumenical document to deliver a common witness to the modern world. While everyone understands that there are still theological differences, "Evangelicals and Catholics Together" was an amazing effort in 1994 to reach out to one another in Christian love. One affirmation in that document stated: "All who accept Christ as Lord and Savior are brothers and sisters in Christ." This is most certainly true....
TORONTO, June 18, 2012 (LifeSiteNews.com) — On Friday June 15th, former TV sportscaster Damian Goddard gave an inspiring speech at the CLC Pro-Life Forum in Toronto, in which he observed that “the word ‘No’ can be an act of great love.”
Goddard was fired from Rogers Sportsnet in 2011 for ‘tweeting’ in defense of marriage.
In part 1 of his speech, Goddard applauded Pope Paul VI’s Humanae Vitae, the encyclical reaffirming the Church’s position on marriage and parenthood and expressly forbidding contraception (HV 14-16).
Goddard said that Humanae Vitae “rocked the world” with its clarity on human sexual inclinations and identity. He compared the encyclical’s proscriptions with a loving parent who will not give way to a child’s whims.
“In that basic message of: ‘you cannot have that cookie before dinner’…we come to realize that the word ‘no’ can be a word, an act, of great love,” Goddard said.
When a parent tells a child ‘no’, Goddard continued, the child knows “deep within its soul… that that parent loves them… Humanae Vitae—it was responsible, it was based on reason, it was scientific, it was love.”

Further, it's about constitutionality. It's still fascinating that certain groups are decrying only the contraception mandate, when Obamacare itself has no authority. But each has its own special interest, I guess. Nevermind that it's Obamacare that is setting undesired precedent. Anyone think the promoters are not delighted that the concentration is on contraception?
"It is so disturbing to see our own government attacking the church." -Rev. Matthew C. Harrison President of the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod on the "HHS Contraception Mandate"
"A Catholic spokeswoman said the mandate violates the rights of religious charities and private businesses who believe birth control and sterilizations are immoral.
"Richard Land, president of the Southern Baptist Convention, said Americans should be able to live out their faith without government interference.
"We had better stand with our Catholic friends because if they get away with doing it to them, we're next," he warned."

Amen, Micheal!
"Forget the inquisition. We've learned our lesson. Let by gones be by gones."
God does not forget but will repay their wicked ways on their heads and I doubt He would encourage us to "forgive and forget" without seeing a turning from wickedness to righteousness which only He is able to effect.

I recently came across your blog and have been reading along. I thought I would leave my first comment. I don't know what to say except that I have enjoyed reading. Nice blog. I will keep visiting this blog very often.
I agree with John. The main thing that makes the Roman Catholic system not Christian is it's denial of 'justification by faith alone apart from works of the law'. IMO until they repent of their view of the gospel, they biblically can not be classified as Christian.
Let's see John Y., why would a Christian not Come out of the Catholic Church? Now, it may take some a little time to make the Pilgrimage From Rome. But an actual Christian will leave it eventually, what reason did your brother give -- for not staying in the Romish Church? I hope it was not a pragmatic one, that his wife would smack him over the head with a skillet if he didn't, but for theological ones. By the way Catholic means universal, and when it is applied to Who and What is the Church?, it is never applied to the Romish Church by Christians, Should Roman Catholicism really be classified as a Christian religion? -- No.

Oooh James We should put the past behind us. The Catholic church has learned from the past and now is much more 'evangelical' than it used to be. Anyway history shows that the protestants killed just as many Catholics back in those dark uneducated times. We should join together today and fight the good fight against the common enemies of liberal standards and muslim take over. After all we use the same bible and our differences are just over a few words and themes of scripture. Combined we could make for a more powerful and greater Christian influence in the whole world.

Do not be fooled the reimaging campaign by Rome over theist 50 years may have many thinking that Rome is just a sweet harmless older brother to the church just slightly confused doctrinally. But this anti-Christ system will turn and attack the church as soon as it is convenient. Much like Islam it is in their documents to make peace for the purpose of gaining advantage.
That's about 50,000 mass graves with Protestant bones stashed in every nook and cranny throughout Europe. Makes the Third Reich seem like choir boys. Hitler should have taken notes from their unprecedented killing efficiency. Archaeologists will undoubtedly someday unearth and validate this profound evil.
For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. Ephesians 6:12,
Christians have a common enemy with the Roman Catholic Institution, and that would be the Devil who is Gods enemy, but that is the end of anything in common. This institution serves the devil with a long history of torture, lies, murders, adultery, greed and blasphemy. multiple millions have been tortured in such sick and cruel and ruthless ways by those monsters for so many years that I don’t know how anyone could possibly excuse this as “Christian”.
Come OUT of her! as in run! Hurry!
The only peace the devil behind this Institution is really after is pieces, as in how much blood and pieces can he get out of you...

Put all other things aside. They believe in purgatory. Which takes away the atoning work of Christ. Meaning. His sacrifice was not sufficient! And that, is heresy.

Amen and Amen, Michael. It would do us all good to have a season of self examination and analyse our individual spiritual state. Our standing with God is fixed and certain, being justified, but our state can vary a lot, and to have a "form of godliness" without the "power" is a sad state to be in. Lord, revive the heart, and put the power in! Oh, how we need the blessing of God! Oh, how we need his Spirit!

Michael I couldn't agree with you more for Nehemiah 1:5-11 reveals the very thing you say!

ECT Train Well it certainly is NOT genuine born again Christians and Roman Catholics.

I have never stated that the Catholic Church(Why do you refer to the Catholic Church as the Romish Church?) will not one of the churches that comprise the Great Whore of Babylon mentioned in the Book of Revelation. But for anybody to state that the Catholic Church is the only church that will comprise the Great Whore of Babylon mentioned in the Book of Revelation is not biblical. You are not the Lord Jesus Christ so you can't make a statement that there are no Christians in the Catholic Church. There are Christians in the Lutheran, Presbyterian, Methodist, Anglican, Episcopal and every other Mainline Protestant Church that acknowledges the Deity of Jesus and the Holy Trinity.
John Y., The Romish Church will be part of the great whore church mentioned in Revelation. As part of this summary shows about the Romish Church, Catholicism's Influence in Europe's Future;
Gil Rugh said or, wrote: .... Many European leaders are outspoken in their opinion that Roman Catholicism is the only bonding agent strong enough to unite the European countries. Imagery borrowed from Catholicism is being used in the representation of the European Union on coins, flags, and buildings. The Vatican can be seen having a tremendous influence on Europe not only religiously, but politically as well as current events move forward as part of God's unfolding timeline for earth's history.
