Was Jesus a Communist? Hollywood, Communist Party Say “Yes”
That’s the title of actor Matthew Modine’s short documentary film that’s been winning film festival awards and critical acclaim.

In Jesus Was A Commie, Modine, who wrote, directed, acted, and narrated the film, says:

According to the Bible, Jesus and his followers chose to own nothing, and shared their belongings. There were no needy people among them. Those who owned land or houses sold them, brought the money from the sales, put it at the Apostles' feet, and it was distributed to anyone who had need. By this definition, Jesus and his followers were communists. ...

Jesus was not a communist, He was and is a royalist. King Jesus over all. The rest are just pretenders to the throne.

It is a sham to at being the "Workers' friend," and just use this philosophy to gain power.
The main thing I like about this short definition, which I would only rate as "ok," was the first sentence/paragraph--"Communism is a form of socialism, in the same way that Catholicism is a type of Christianity." Ah, what a sentence!

Communal ownership is for sissies, hippie types, and the indolent. It also means nothing in real terms, as the controllers are the real owners. One should not be led to see a vast difference and be pleased if one version is enforced by "law," and the other by the gun. Either makes the underling a dependent subject, not a genuine citizen, therby is regressive and should be denied power.

Is there any sin or political persuasion that reprobates haven't tried to foist on Christ?

Marxists as usual have a double-standard; if they really think Christianity is a false opiate of the masses, then they can no more trust the Bible about the things they supposedly like (communal living) than about the things they don't (God, atonement, miracles, eternal life). Thus, this old line about Socialist Jesus is a cynical ruse to get weak-minded religious people into their camp (to be harassed, imprisoned, or shot later when they become inconvenient).

Communism & Socialism are merely covetousness & thievery dressed up in academic garb. It is not an accident that in the Soviet GULAGs, according to Solzhenitsyn, “blatnye” (thieves) were considered ”socially friendly” by camp authorities, & got better treatment than political prisoners. Expect the same in our Progressively (pun intended) degenerate political order whose stated goal is to eliminate economic inequality (a Marxist theme).

What is the difference? A socialist is merely a communist wannabe. Whether capitalized or not, they are a waste of space.

Just a minor correction, Mike. Communism with a capital "C" (I thought they preferred to be know as Socialists?) is different from communism with a small "c" but anyway:
Barnes Commentary Act 2:44 wrote:
....Had all things common. That is, all their property or possessions. See Acts 4:32-37, 5:1-10. The apostles, in the time of the Saviour, evidently had all their property in common stock, and Judas was made their treasurer. They regarded themselves as one family, having common wants; and there was no use or propriety in their possessing extensive property by themselves. Yet even then it is probable that some of them retained an interest in their property which was not supposed to be necessary to be devoted to the common use. It is evident that John thus possessed property which he retained, Jn 19:27. And it is clear that the Saviour did not command them to give up their property into a common stock; nor did the apostles enjoin it. Acts 5:4: "Whiles it remained, was it not thine own? and after it was sold, was it not in thine own power?" It was therefore perfectly voluntary; and was evidently adapted to the peculiar circumstances of the early converts....

What rubbish. Communism is as communism does. In spite of the claim that it is a valid form of government, what it is is a barbaric criminal enterprise. What is does is steal and kill. Ask anyone who escaped a communist regime if they left because there were no needy people there.

When you are a divine miracle worker and can feed five thousand people on a couple of bits of sandwich material and get your tax money from the mouth of a fish ....

Then you don't need to become a communist.
