Theistic evolution challenged, defended in online exchange
The danger of the scientific tail wagging the theological dog is real, a Southern Baptist seminary professor wrote in an ongoing debate with evolutionary creationists at The BioLogos Foundation.
"Can one start with the Scriptures and arrive at anything resembling theistic evolution? Are we to start with a scientific conclusion and then look for biblical sanction?" Kenneth Keathley, theology professor at Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary, wrote.
"I don't think most scientists would want to do science the way evolutionary creationists seem to be asking theologians to do theology," Keathley, who also serves as SEBTS senior vice president for academic administration, noted....
Mike you are right on. This is a huge issue in all "higher" education circles, whether Christian or not. Ken Ham makes a valid point that every doctrine that we hold dear, to include the very Gospel of our salvation, rests on the firm foundation of the veracity of Genesis.
It's sad how this has infected many Christian seminarys. Then it gets polluted in the body of Christ. One of the questions I asked my pastor, before we became members, do u believe in a young earth? Do u believe the Genesis account ? We are doing a DVD by Ken Ham on this very issue now for are youth. We need to be teaching are children, the Bible is authoritative, and not a bunch of story's.
sometimes i think atheists are better theologians than some Christians. even they know the Bible teaches God created in 6 literal days. that's part of the controversy. if it was 6 days then evolution had no time to take place. that's one of they make fun of the most.
Theistic evolution makes the mistake of thinking that the science of evolution is so overwhelming that they must accommodate this into their theology and reinterpret the scriptures based upon that. Quite the contrary the THEORY of evolution has more holes than ever and is anything but science. Not a single missing link between any species has been found ( Darwin said if we do not find numerous links in the fossil record his theory must be abandoned) most evolution has given up arguing origin of species and macro- evolution and instead focuses in micro-evolution which we used to call adaptation. The science is missing don't throw Gods word out for a theory that has very little evidence ( and the same evidence can be explained by creation)
These people are wolves in sheeps clothing. If u think the beginning, Is some kind of story. Or metaphor. What ate u going to believe about the rest? They quote " they don't believe the Bible is i infallible and inerrant. Then they don't believe it's God breathed. Again.. They follow there own depraved hearts. Praise God, for people like Ken Ham. Who don't compromise on the Word of God.
