The SBC looks to elect its first black president

When delegates to the Southern Baptist Convention (SBC) gather for their annual meeting in New Orleans next month, many expect a watershed moment: the election of the first black president in the denomination’s history.

Some expect an additional dynamic among the delegates called “messengers” in the denomination: serious discussions of a race-related controversy that has gripped the SBC since April. It’s a discussion that flows from a race-related controversy that has gripped the entire nation—the shooting death of 17-year-old Trayvon Martin in Florida. ...

Made Abortion Legal  Find all comments by Made Abortion Legal
"Two years before the U.S. Supreme Court decision in Roe v. Wade, the largest [conservative] Protestant group in the United States made a powerful statement on abortion.

"The Southern Baptist Convention wanted to make it legal.

"The members of the convention listed in a 1971 resolution when it should be allowed: “rape, incest, clear evidence of severe fetal deformity, and carefully ascertained evidence of the likelihood of damage to the emotional, mental, and physical health of the mother.”

"Three years later, they affirmed that statement and, recognizing the complexities of contemporary society, asked for “God’s guidance through prayer and study in order to bring about solutions to continuing abortion problems in our society.”"

"Churches shift positions on abortion"

Why did the SBC resolve to make abortion legal? Perhaps the incumbent president will finally clarify why they held fast to this Christ-hating, anti-biblical and satanic position to vivisect tiny defenseless children.

Then he can explain why the SBC was founded to support the destruction of families at auctions throughout the South and enslaving these human beings against their will for white

The only Calvinist in the sbc, are the "new calvinist " movement. Which is nothing more then emergent, mark Driscoll ecumenicalist movement. They are not true reformers.

This looming disaster was started when, in schism, the SBC left the broader Baptists (c. 1845) to support purchasing and chaining-down Africans [EDIT, not] American [citizens] so they could perform servile labor benefiting the white upper crust [note racist rant].
These Calvinist Founders, apparently unable to determine which way was up when holding their Bibles, never had a clue that their biggest tithers, while profiting from the whipped backs of their slaves, were daily engaged in crimes against humanity.
Rather, the New Southern Baptists, including the Piper-ites and New Calvinists, are bowing to the idols of Democratic Humanism and Political-Correctness which pretends to judge both the Laws of God and teachings of Christ as unjust, thus condemning the righteous blood of Jesus who was incapable of condoning sin. The NEW SBC, having been tutored under the False Christianity of Abolitionist Reconstructionism for 150 years now (largely of Arminians and Universalist Yankee Baptists, Socialists) must distance itself by having an Affirmative Action President, like Obama is. Thus they condemn the most godly men and patriots--Richard Furman, James P. Boyce

Hmmmm?
So are you another one slowly (or at warp speed) becoming a baby sprinkler like Roman Catholics?

That is a very accurate way to comment on the growing apostasy in (quote) evangelical "Christianity".

As to the SBC having a black President perhaps Voddie Baucham from Texas (despite his Calvinistic leanings) would be a far better choice. I have had the priviledge of hearing Pastor Fred Luter of Franklin Avenue Baptist Church who is more of a respectable loving Christian politican than a passionate Preacher and Defender of the Truth of Scripture without any favoritism for people of his own color of skin that I believe Voddie Baucham would be.

No matter who the SBC gets, they and all of us desperately need genuine God-fearing men in our churches and denominations or associations, who will fearlessly stand for the Truth.

While considering the following, bear in mind that Land is the president of a commission concerned with *ethics*:

“Land admitted that he quoted parts of the editorial without giving clear credit to the author.”

“Land accused black political leaders … of using the shooting death to 'gin up the black vote.'”

“Land also stated that a black man is 'statistically more likely to do you harm than a white man.'”

This is by no means the first example I have seen of “ethically-challenged” church leaders.

Calvinist Founders
Its good to hear that there are some Calvinists, ie real Bible Christians in the Southern Baptists. The only SBC preacher I met in our country was a devout asnd dedicated Liberal. And as you know the Liberals, like the Roman Catholics, would not know the Bible from the bus timetable.

Hopefully Fred Luter will soon add some bubble gum and toothpicks in an attempt to patch the massive hole in the SBC's defective hull.
