Home School Team Heads to National Science Competition
An East Tennessee team will represent the state in a national science competition next month.
This team beat almost 20 schools at state. The winning team isn't a typical school. It's a group of students who are homeschooled.
"We are homeschoolers. We all belong to the Cedar Springs Homeschool Support Group. So we don't have a school and we don't have the laboratories and many of the facilities that schools do," Coach van der Merwe said.
But they do have smart kids, parents who helped with coaching, and a commitment to doing their best....
I missed this program when it was played over the air. In fact I think it was during my church services? I saw it on the Internet, and it is better and really quite positive about homeschooling, considering it was done by a state agency, the University of Nebraska. I would suggest you take a look at it on the Internet, if it isn't on your local PBS stations. Homeschool Nebraska which should put you right into the video, the printed commentary can be found at:
The cares of the world shouldn't have made miss mentioning this and if you happen to be around on the Internet at 6:00 p.m. tonight, you can go to the website at, Indian Hills Community Church and see:

From the summary, "But they do have smart kids, parents who helped with coaching, and a commitment to doing their best. ...," this is what home schooling should be doing, there is every reason for homeschooled children to excel. Christians should be taught to, Come, Let Us Reason because The Christian and the Mind really do work well together.
