‘Religion Is Not Driving Extremist Violence’ in Nigeria, Says Obama Official, After Church Bombings
Johnnie Carson
Assistant Secretary of State for African Affairs Johnnie Carson said Monday that “religion is not driving extremist violence” in Nigeria--just one day after a Christian church conducting an Easter service was targeted by a car bombing that left 39 dead.
Similarly, on Christmas Day, the Nigerian Islamist terrorist group, Boko Haram, attacked a Catholic church in that country, killing more than 40 people.
“I want to take this opportunity to stress one key point and that is that religion is not driving extremist violence either in Jos or northern Nigeria,” Assistant Secretary of State Carson said Monday at a forum on U.S. policy toward Nigeria held at the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) in Washington, D.C....
Not at all Russ! My view of God is quite large, it is man that's the sinner! What is it about my concern for Christians in Africa that has you troubled?
although there are partisan overtones to the misleading talking points, it would be wise to remember that the Iq Christians have also been severely persecuted during and ofter w. occupation, many fleeing (bath party was somewhat protective for Christians, but the pro-Ir sect now taking charge is not). Instead of putting on rose colored glasses and thinking somehow it was better when the other side was running the dog and pony show, it would make sense to look at the fruit of our labor and repent.
the partisan battering just leads to more of the same.
Obviously this guy is not as well instructed as SermonAudio commentators who know full well just how much ad hominem can emerge from religious differences. Now just take ad hominem a few stages further in the world and you get the inquisition from the RC's and civil war (Jihad) from the muslim.
I guess this is what happens when you vote for someone who tells you what you want to hear, whether it's true or not.
Before long they will also tell you what THEY want you to hear, whether it's true or not.
I sure hope enough of America has learned by now that they need to be more diligent when it comes researching a candidate's true background before pulling the lever in November, and not just letting themselves get carried-away by over-generalized fine-sounding platitudes like "hope" and "change".
groups allied in Libya (genocide following), conscripting children soldiers in Syria (didn't we just read of persecution of Christians in Syria this week?) inviting to big house for tea.
how long are Christians going to participate in their own persecution because its supposedly 'good for Israel and democracy'? Can it not be seen plainly that this is a global movement/alliance?
Praying for the Christians of Nigeria, for safety and a strong witness.
