Some Jesus mythicists say many New Testament scholars are intellectual snobs.
“I don’t think I’m some Internet kook or Holocaust denier,” says Robert Price, a former Baptist pastor who argues in “Deconstructing Jesus” that a historical Jesus probably didn’t exist.
“They say I’m a bitter ex-fundamentalist. It’s pathetic to see this character assassination. That’s what people resort to when they don’t have solid arguments.”
The debate over Jesus’ existence has led to a curious role reversal. Two of the New Testament scholars who are leading the way arguing for Jesus’ existence have a reputation for attacking, not defending, traditional Christianity....
Bart D. Ehrman wrote: Most Jesus deniers are Internet kooks…He says Freke and others who deny Jesus’ existence are conspiracy theorists trying to sell books.
“There are people out there who don’t think the Holocaust happened, there wasn’t a lone JFK assassin and Obama wasn’t born in the U.S.,"…“Among them are people who don’t think Jesus existed.”
I wouldn't call them bitter ex-fundamentalists, I would call them what the Bible calls them, apostate. "They went out from us because they were not of us" as John says. "A heretic after the first and second admonition, reject". Don't even debate them.
I'll paraphrase the late Adrian Rodgers and say that the reason most people can't find Jesus is the same reason a bank robber can't find a policeman.
Jesus doesn't have to be a stranger to anyone. Anyone can find out about Him and know Him from his words and deeds. If a person takes the time to read the Bible and come to him with a child-like, simple faith, he will find and know Jesus.
A few other problems among the many. I don't think I have "blind faith" there are so many prophecies that have come true about Jesus, as well as so many that He gave that have come true, that they are better than an eye-witness account. Look at Israel even today and how it continues to be a stumbling block for the world when it is smaller than counties in most states. The disciples didn't die for Jesus until He came back.If they were delusional, wouldn't it be just as easy to die for a "myth" before the Resurrection? Finally, one commentator states that Jesus was the one perfect human that kept all of God's commandments. I think he starts off on the wrong track there. Jesus was human and tempted as every human was, but his nature was Divine. It is impossible for any other human to live up to God's standard because our nature is fallen.
I agree with you. Nobody would deny that Christopher Columbus sailed the ocean. We don't have to prove that Jesus existed because history proves it. People have to disprove it and they will never be able to!
Okay I wanna say something and I hope I am not taken wrong so I will be careful of how I word this. I can respect proeple when they question if Jesus is God. But what I can't respect is a person who says that Jesus never was. Okay I don't mind it when people are searching for truth and they are not sure of his Deity. They are some what reachable. I know 100% that Jesus OS God the One True Living God. But I cannot respect and think people are stupid and idiots is when they say Jesus never was here. History has proven Jesus actually walked amongst the people it is documented. Like I say question and search that's all good but people saying No God at all. They my dear friends are Fools
