Sure, but there are always exceptions. And I speculate that immigration is an additional strain, going from a generally Confucian, conformist culture to a feminized, narcissistic one that venerates childishness. Imagine anyone saying âQuit yourselves like menâ (1 Sam. 4:9) & not getting mocked. Or peruse American boys' fiction from a century ago or more.
According to the Oikos website, the school caters to Korean Christians, & the gunman was of Korean background. Respect is important everywhere of course, but particularly in Asian cultures, & the perceived lack of it was one of the shooter's grievances.
