Richard Dawkins to atheist rally: 'Show contempt' for faith
About 20,000 atheists gathered within shouting distance of the Washington Monument on Saturday for a Reason Rally hell-bent on damning religion and mocking beliefs.
Dawkins got to the part where he calls on the crowd not only to challenge religious people but to "ridicule and show contempt" for their doctrines and sacraments, including the Eucharist, which Catholics believe becomes the body of Christ during Mass.
That was a step further than Craig Lowery, a Dawkins fan, said he's willing to go. Lowery, of Washington, D.C., applauded but admitted he's not a confrontational atheist, saying: I might make fun of them in my head but I wouldn't say it. Most people, religious or otherwise, are good people....
only the Bible, it should also be pointed out the word, "Bible," isn't in the Bible either. As the other two gentlemen have pointed out before me the idea Trinity has been in the Bible for a very long time, q.v.,
Matthew 28 18 And Jesus came up and spoke to them, saying, "All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. 19 "Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age." ---NASB

Well of course the word Trinity is nowhere in the Bible but the doctrine of the Trinity is all over the Bible. God is a Holy Trinity consisting of the Father, Son and the Holy Spirit.
Well, the doctrine of the Trinity has been around since Jesus.
Mark 1 10 And immediately coming up out of the water, He saw the heavens opening, and the Spirit like a dove descending upon Him; 11 and a voice came out of the heavens: "Thou art My beloved Son, in Thee I am well-pleased." 12 And immediately the Spirit impelled^ Him to go out into the wilderness.---NASB
Naturally, the Romish Church, is an embarrassment to all Christians because of what it calls The Sacraments (43-51).

I meant matters like church discipline & public worship, in which clear Scriptural direction is ignored. Pro-life ethics may be a *mark* of Christianity, like many other things, but it is not a sine qua non of it, as you seem to think.
Do not fall into the Modernist error of redefining the Gospel of Jesus Christ into an ethical/political manifesto.

If your pastor has gone on record against the HHS Abortifacient Mandate, your fear of falling into atheism is unfounded. If he's been mute, you'll want to find out why.
Watch the movie divided. Very informative. It goes into detail, of the failure of the youth group culture. You can watch the whole thing on YouTube. Shocking, but very true. Parents, are not training there children. They leave it to a youth leader, to " train up YOUR CHILD, in the way they should go". Something truly mission their. Watch the movie.. Well done.

Dawkins' Wikipedia bio describes his upbringing as “normal Anglican,” so given the doctrinal trends of this church in the past century, it is fair to guess that agnosticism/atheism was an easy conclusion for him.
Many avowedly conservative churches today are atheists in practice, if not preaching.

I asked my nephew what precipitated his going from being a Christian to being an agnostic. And my nephew stated that he never really believed in religion but just went along with it because of my brother and his wife.
That I can understand. As far as I am aware Dawkins did not do that.
What interests me is, what turns the child of devout parents into a persecutor of the Parents' faith?

What he does not realise is that his hatred for the true God (he likes to single out Christianity!) is the very proof that the bible is right. Which other religion speaks of the ungodly hating God? One wonders what his parents (who both professed Christianity) would have thought of him had they still been alive? There is still hope though. If the Lord can turn the heart of a persecuting Saul, He sure can change the heart of a poverty stricken soul like Dawkins!
