PA Atheists Use Race & Slave Imagery in Billboard Against the ‘Barbaric’ Christian Bible
American Atheists and Pa. Nonbelievers, are being accused of invoking racial themes after posting a Bible-inspired billboard against the designation. Their sign, which tackles the issue of slavery, was erected in an area of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, with a large African American population.
The message aimed at railing against politicians who supported the resolution, was posted just blocks away from the state capitol. It comes, as many atheist-led billboard campaigns do, with a fair amount of controversy. Only this particular message was so inflammatory that it also led to a defacing....

That both atheists & Christians think a philosophical debate can be distilled onto billboards shows the state of intellectual decline we are in.
Leviticus 20:9 “For every one that curseth his father or his mother shall be surely put to death: he hath cursed his father or his mother; his blood shall be upon him.”
To address the billboard propaganda directly, it should 1st be pointed out that the slaves could've had unbelieving masters, which the Apostles couldn't control. And neither atheists nor Confederate wannabes know the particular circumstances of the slavery to which Paul & Peter refer in their Epistles. In ancient Rome, it is true, many slaves were conquered peoples, but others were sold into that condition as debtors or by desperate parents, which is comparable to English bonds of indenture.
Therefore there is no rational ground to infer that slavery as practiced by ancient Christians (for believing masters are addressed in 1 Tim. 6:2) was necessarily contradicted Biblical stds. of justice. And of course, where do atheists get *their* ethics from? That's a good question to pose to them.
Even today, jury duty & military service are forms of indentured servitude (esp. when there's a draft). We just don't admit it these days.

Utter nonsense. Racial chattel slavery (as opposed to Biblical slavery & English indentured servitude, which neither atheists nor Southern apologists admit the distinction between) was based upon kidnapping, a CAPITAL OFFENSE in Scripture. This was understood even by some Puritans like Samuel Sewall & Richard Baxter. It was also understood by Alexander McCleod, an orthodox Scots Presby who in 1802 published an unrefutable masterpiece, “Negro Slavery Unjustifiable.” Look it up. I agree with his conclusion that any Christian owner of black slaves should be excommunicated.
The American South was our version of the Gulag Archipelago, an unmitigated crime against countless black people. Even Soviet zeks had it better, in that they had the hope of eventual freedom (if they survived), unlike the typical American slave. And because the North was racist too, it took another century for blacks to get political liberty.
The atheists are actually quoting this verse correctly, according to the true meaning of "servants". This billboard actually repeats the Old Abolitionist claims of 150 years ago and is the consequences of Socialism infiltrating Christianity (beginning with Wilberforce) not dealing properly with the Bible's teaching on the subject of slavery, and bowing to political-correctness instead. Modern Christianity, Southern Baptists and New Calvinists in particular are ashamed of our more righteous forefathers and greatest theologians (Edwards, Charles Hodge, Thornwell, Dabney) who all taught that scripture *upheld but regulated slavery*, as in this very verse--i.e. "Masters, render to your slaves justice and fairness"--instead of Abolitionist distortions of slavery being sinful and evil. The Abolitionists' equating of all servitude (Master-servants) or submission required in the Bible as "abuse" is what paved the way for Feminism (husband-wife, man-woman), and the 60's rebellion Anti-authoritarianism(Fathers-children, Government-citizen) which has sent today's society into chaos and make many Christians afraid of speaking the truth.
Atheism is a sham because atheists know that the God of the Bible exists. But atheists do not want to be under the authority of God but want to be their own gods. Atheists when they pass away and stand before the Lord Jesus Christ and have to give an account of their miserable and Satanic lives will find out that not only does God exist but that the Lord Jesus is God. And atheists will be tossed into Hell for all eternity to be with their god Satan.
