Storms demolish small towns in Ind., Ky.; 38 dead

Across the South and Midwest, survivors emerged Saturday to find blue sky and splinters where homes once stood, cars flung into buildings and communications crippled after dozens of tornadoes chainsawed through a region of millions, leveling small towns along the way.

At least 38 people were killed in five states, but a 2-year-old girl was somehow found alive and alone in a field near her Indiana home. Her family did not survive. A couple that fled their home for the safety of a restaurant basement made it, even after the storms threw a school bus into their makeshift shelter. ...

Lurker, there are some that think what the Romish Church sprang from was Christian, e.g., The Church of Rome Steps Into Apostasy, but there is no doubt now where it stands, Roman Catholicism - Apostolic or Apostate?. Anyway, Lurker I agree with you, the first Pope of what was to become centered in Rome, was Pope Diotrephes (Also the first Metropolitan)

3 John 1
9 I wrote something to the church; but Diotrephes, who loves to be first among them, does not accept what we say.
10 For this reason, if I come, I will call attention to his deeds which he does, unjustly accusing us with wicked words; and not satisfied with this, neither does he himself receive the brethren, and he forbids those who desire to do so, and puts them out of the church.
11 Beloved, do not imitate what is evil, but what is good. The one who does good is of God; the one who does evil has not seen God.---NASB

Unfortunately this assertion would make all of us in Reformed churches non-Trinitarians -- that is heretics. This is a non-starter in Reformed theology.

Also, we need to press on with 95 Theses for the next Reformation as Michael Horton and I are compiling.

Any ideas to add to the list?

Jim,

Just an observation for the sake of Miss Manners aka Allan Schwarb....

If the Roman Catholic Church were "apostate", as you say, that would mean there was a time when she held the faith once delivered to the saints. The truth of the matter is the RCC has NEVER held that faith therefore "apostate" is an undeserved courtesy.

Similarily, I am prohibited by conscience to apply the mother of harlots of the Revelation to the RCC for that would mean that there was a time when she was a faithful wife to Christ. She NEVER was.

Since attack ads work well in western politics, is this same tactic a biblical one which should also be employed to win folks to Christ?

The only thing these storms remind one of is that creation itself is fallen. You need not spritualize it beyond that.

But, John, you all right about God staying his hand, when the church's raptured, What's Next for the Church?, your Romish church and the other apostate groups will have the restraining hand of God removed and then you will see even more clearly the force of evil, which some people define as God's absence or at least his restraint in controlling Satan and humans.

It appears like God has been lifting His hand of protection over the United States in recent years because of the court rulings in favor of homosexual activities and other perversion.

So Jim, you think maybe God directed those tornadoes to Indiana and Kentucky because Maryland recently legalized homosexual marriage?

My Mike of NY, "good evil?" What evil can come to a Christian anyway?
Matthew Henry in his concise commentary wrote:
Isaiah 45:7:
5-10 There is no God beside Jehovah. There is nothing done without him. He makes peace, put here for all good; and creates evil, not the evil of sin, but the evil of punishment. He is the Author of all that is true, holy, good, or happy; and evil, error, and misery, came into the world by his permission, through the wilful apostacy of his creatures, but are restrained and overruled to his righteous purpose. This doctrine is applied, for the comfort of those that earnestly longed, yet quietly waited, for the redemption of Israel. The redemption of sinners by the Son of God, and the pouring out the Spirit, to give success to the gospel, are chiefly here intended. We must not expect salvation without righteousness; together the Lord hath created them. Let not oppressors oppose God's designs for his people. Let not the poor oppressed murmur, as if God dealt unkindly with them. Men are but earthen pots; they are broken potsherds, and are very much made so by mutual contentions. To contend with Him is as senseless as for clay to find fault with the potter.…

Isa 45:7 "I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil: I the LORD do all these things."
Gill must be talking about good evil, not the evil that is sin? So tornadoes are the good evil then? Interesting.
