Obama Plays Race Card, Calls on Churches to Support Campaign

The program urges black Americans to volunteer their time by making calls, organizing events and going door to door in their neighborhoods encouraging other African Americans to vote for Obama.

Not only is Obama playing the race card in an attempt to pressure black Americans into voting for him, he is also violating the separation between church and state. In the video promo for the campaign, Obama urges black people to pressure churches into supporting his administration by getting his message out via ‚Äúthe faith community‚ÄĚ. He also calls on voters to become ‚Äúcongregation captains‚ÄĚ. ...

Point well made, Barry. When the Repubs can do something, they don't seem to have the spine to back up rhetoric.
For the sake of accuracy, the Senate was split 50-50 in the 2000 election. Then Jeffords(R-Vt) switched to independent and voted with Democrats, giving them effective majority until 2002 when the Repubs took control again. And in the 2006 elections, the Dems won control of both House and Senate.
Thanks Mike, I appreciate the info. I'm not saying anything disparaging about the republicans or the democrats. However, all I'm saying is that they need to stand behind their rhetoric. It's all political. I believe when Christians get behind one political party over another, they take a chance on harming their witness. It's move valuable to me to vote my conscience and not get too involved. My main goal, in fact, our main goal should be the Kingdom and what we can do to glorify our Lord. We are NEVER going to do that through politics...

John Y, first a statement then a question for you. The Republican party controlled the house and the senate from 1994 to 2008, they controlled the house, senate, and presidency from 2000 to 2008. They did not do anything about abortion in that entire time that I know of. What makes them any different than the democrats??? I'm really just asking, not trying to start a fight. I'm really appalled that everyone thinks that the republicans are soooo moral. they talk a good game, i never see any results!!!

If ethnicity is not an issue for you as a Christian than why did you identify yourself as a black man? Race and ethnicity are still a problem in American churches.
I think he was just trying to prove a point. President Obama, his supporters, the media, etc., etc., think all people who have dark skin will vote for President Obama; if they don't, they are somehow betraying something and someone. No one is allowed to think for themselves anymore. Just ask Justice Clarence Thomas. Read some of his stuff. If you oppose or are critical of President Obama, you are a racist. Just ask Franklin Graham. I think that's why he mentioned the fact that he is black. That's what this article and discussion were about...

Amen to that! I can't stand the term "race." It makes it sounds like people are some kind of cyborgs or something out of Star Trek. It's designed to divide people from one another. There is one race...the human race.

Here is what the Lord says.

"And He has made from one blood every nation of men to dwell on all the face of the earth..."(Acts 17:26)

"And they sang a new song, saying: 'You are worthy to take the scroll, And to open its seals; For You were slain, And have redeemed us to God by Your blood Out of every tribe and tongue and people and nation...'" (Revelation 5:9)

Beautiful!!!

Republicans are the party of Jesus???
Where did you get that info from John?
I believe it is hard for a lot of Christians to understand that OUR FATHER does not have to turn His back on us for us to falter as a nation. How many times did God allow the Jews to do their own thing instead of follow Him & the Jews were conquered or fell into econ, spiritual & social chaos. The US & the West are there? We will need a great revival to postpone great tribulations & the revival will not come from any govt party. The last few elections have been a situation of voting for the lesser of 2 poorer candidates. Is.3:1-4 Children are our leaders! & not close to Christ.

John Y., The only reason that Republicans are are against those things is that they are for or getting elected. Now, I'm glad they are against many things, too bad stealing isn't one of them. Which is one of the sins, that will get you condemned to hell--no buts, ifs, or maybes! How strange, it was only during the Obama ministration that the first new nuclear power plant was approved. One just can't get those oil and gas interests worked up.

The "Great White Hopes," that are running for President, certainly are getting the backing of the Mormon and Romish churches respectively, q.v.,Roman Catholics, Mormons and Jehovah Witnesses, and appealing to be voted for, because of one's race or denomination is objectionable to me.

Only someone who is morally bankrupt and in league with Satan would vote for Obama or any other Democrat politician because the Democrat Party is the party of Satan. Whereas the Republican Party is the party of Jesus.
