Catholic Politicians You Thought Were Evangelical
Some Catholic politicos have become popular among evangelical Christians. So popular, in fact, that they can sometimes be mistaken for an evangelical themselves.

Here are five Catholic politicians who are often believed to be evangelicals:

Hate speech, you sound like a liberal. When ever they want to shut you up they say hate speech. I assure you I hate no one and certainly not Catholics but the History of the Church of Rome, the Popes and the scriptures will make anyone concerned. The only reason more are not is because they do not know the history.

Yeah, this is anti-Catholic hate speech...

Mike - look at the context! This is always the context for these kind of statements.

James wrote:
It's very concerning that Rome may be in control of the Supreme Court and now perhaps the White House. As someone who has studied the dark ages and how Rome and its Popes handle power and those who do not agree with them it is scary to say the least.
Conservatism has provided a nice cloak for the Popes and the Scarlet Beast but do not be deceived she is no friend of the Church of Jesus Christ.
James - They were good and faithful lawyers and judges who deserved promotion and honor and perform public service. You need a sense of perspective.

Supreme Court Justices aren't politicians (in the ordinary sense of the word, though law & politics are inextricably related). Let's just call them public figures instead.

I don't know whom these people poll, but it's not hard for anyone who cares to find out religious affiliations these days. But maybe pop-evangelical Repubs don't care.

Catholics have for some time now dominated right-wing politics in this country (as in Europe), which is an irony since Rome's Social Teachings align much better with the Progressive Left, except for abortion & birth-control.

BTW, the 5 Solas are each predicates to a different *subject*, so there is no contradiction. Even Wikipedia gets that right.

Why do you think that the death penalty has been so hard to implement, because of the Catholic agenda on the death penalty ‚Äď which is to abolish it. We should have many more intelligent conservative Jews on the bench, we would not only get the right decisions but more intelligent ones as well.
a. Scripture alone.
b. Christ alone.
c. Grace alone.
d. Faith alone.
e. God's glory alone.

Since each is mutually exclusive by the modifier "alone," you may pick only one. Which one?

That's only your interpretation. Where do I even find all of this in my Bible?

Evangelical Catholics devoutly adhere to the Gospel including faith alone, hope alone and love alone.

Thats an oxymoron if ever there was.
Evangelical means you stick to the Gospel.
Catholics stick like glue to their church and traditions - regardless of what the Bible says.
Thats why they worship dumb alabaster idols and relics.

He's probably an evangelical Catholic. There are millions of these even in the U.S. It's good that Time is finally recognizing that an evangelical doesn't have to hate the Church.

There are many many church goers who don't know what the word evangelical really means. So I suppose we shouldn't expect Time magazine to know. They wouldn't want the truth to get in the way of sensationalism.
