Sheriff hires mosque foe to lead terrorism training

Muslim Brotherhood Logo

A former FBI agent who claims mosques in nearby Nashville, Tenn., have no legal right to exist is training the Rutherford County Sheriff's Office about Islam and the threats of terrorism.

Rutherford Sheriff Robert Arnold said his department simply wants to learn about Muslim culture.

"There are not many classes out there for anything when it comes to Muslims. But this training isn't just about that, it has many other components to it," he said. "My stance is and my office's stance is, we are not here to pick sides. I am here to protect the people of this county."

Arnold has said the department has no plans to initiate an investigation of any local Muslims. ...

I would beg the differ, this sherriff supported the controversial building of the Islamic Center here. This training is as neccessary as any proactive training that law enforcement needs in order to serve and protect all its citizens both muslim and non-muslim

I would even point out that this sheriff was giving a slanted view of Islam. It would've been quite well if the had them read such articles as, The Two Faces of Islam . . . Still Smiling and also "Don't judge the Muslims that you know by Islam and don't judge Islam by the Muslims that you know.", which I will note as a picture of a shapely young Muslim lady so that is the only part of it that some may find offensive--besides the truth about Islam that is.

The article itself in, "USA Today" had some interesting references (URLs) such as to CAIR. It had a roundabout reference to this commentary, which looks interesting, Think Again: Islamophobia as an offensive weapon.

This sheriff handled matters rather crudely from what I can see.
