Prop. 8 overturned in California, court says state can’t ban gay marriage
The 9th Circuit Court in California struck down as unconstitutional the state's voter-passed ban on gay marriage Tuesday, ruling 2-1 that it violates the rights of gay Californians.

"Proposition 8 serves no purpose, and has no effect, other than to lessen the status and human dignity of gays and lesbians in California, and to officially reclassify their relationships and families as inferior to those of opposite-sex couples," Judge Stephen Reinhardt wrote in the decision. The court concludes that the law violates the 14th Amendment rights of gay couples to equal protection under the law. Access to gay marriage will remain on hold pending appeals to the decision.

The Circuit Court backed up District Judge Judge Vaughn Walker, who ruled in August of 2010 that the state of California has no "rational basis" to single out gay men and women as ineligible for marriage. The group fighting for Prop. 8, ...

He can't, unless he's unfit to be judge, and the legislators are too cowardly to remove him from office.

We are missing the big picture.
Yes, it is important that 'all' Americans have freedom from discrimination, but do we not also see Christians trying to stand up for what is morally right and being discriminated against and labelled?
It is clear that the Bible teaches that no homosexual shall inherit the kingdom of heaven. Then shouldn't Christians try to warn (in love) their family & neighbors that homosexuality has an eternal consequence?
If the issue now becomes that of atheism, what difference does it make then if we all return to our primordial soup from whence we came?
No sense in polishing the brass...
Ah yes, truly the world preaches eat & drink for tomorrow we die.
But make no mistake about it, the big picture is this... Christ will return again and those who are lawless shall not inherit God (see Matthew 7).
So then, my question is this... what have they won?
May God grant that His people remain humble and yet strong like Jesus who is willing to meet sinners where they are but not willing to leave them that way.
Also, what does Islam say about this topic? Are Christians the only underdog?
It also amazes me that one judge can over rule the mindset of an entire nation.

Agree.

But it's also true that the incredible success of the homosexual movement is due to their ability to successfully re-package themselves from being considered "deviant" to being now seen as a legitimately "down-trodden" segment of society, like African-Americans and women, and thus perceived to be in need of significant "redress".

It's funny but when I was a kid the 3 worst things a young boy could be called was a N-word(African-American), a "woman", or a F-word(homosexual). Today ALL 3 of these social groups have tenaciously fought, and won a considerable degree of political and social clout, regardless of whether or not any or all of them are actually legitimately good and moral perspectives. Only that they were all "picked-on" more or less to equal extents back in the old days.

"serves no purpose, and has no effect, other than to lessen the status and human dignity of gays and lesbians" Haven't they done that by themselves? Another word hijacked by the homosexual community. It is truly sad.

Orthodox Rabbi Daniel Lapin:
"Roughly when do you think the [cultural] deterioration began? Wouldn't you agree that most people would say sometime in the 1960s? Perhaps one of the most notable events, and its significance can hardly be exaggerated was the arrival of the birth control tablet in the early 60s. And what that did for the very first time is it created the possibility of perpetual male adolescence. It made it possible for the first time for men to really never grow up. It essentially transformed masculinity and with all the implications of honor and respect and courage and the ability to defer gratification, everything that we think of as responsible masculinity, got transformed to a very simple question: "Did you remember to take your pill?""

Family Talk with Dr. James Dobson, "The Battle for Civilization, Part 1," [00:11:00-00:12:00]

This "perpetual male adolescence" of the 60s has finally metastasized into same-sex marriage.

It is not liberalism that is causing this shift in culture it is the flesh, the world and the devil coming together in a unholy trinity. The flesh is being satisfied by unnatural relationships. The world is happy because it is creating another ungodly system and satan is doing his part by decieving those who are not the elect into believing that something that is physically disgusting is right. No my friend it is not liberalism but the Prince of the air. We are in a time where being a Christian is going to get really uncomfortable and we will seperate the wheat from the chaff out from the true Church. The irony is how easy it has been to get this insituted. First the media stops reporting on aids so we have a generation that did not know the sins of there forefathers. These includes young people who profess to be Christians who believe in the equality of all creatures no matter how much they violate GOD's laws. So if there is no ramifications to your sin then it must be right. More people are still dying of aids than ever before but we see people want to push same sex marriage as normal.
