Underscoring the prominent, if little discussed role that Mitt Romney played as a Mormon leader, the private equity giant once run by the GOP presidential frontrunner carved his church a slice of several of its most lucrative business deals, securities records show, providing it with millions of dollars worth of stock in some of Bain Capital's most well-known holdings.
Romney has always been a major donor to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, which requires that members "tithe," or give 10 percent of their income to the church. His family charity, called the Tyler Foundation, has given more than $4 million to the church in the past five years, including $1.8 million in 2008 and $600,000 in 2009. But because Romney, whose fortune has been estimated at $250 million, has never released his personal tax returns, the full extent of his giving has never been public....
Tony Cisneros, seemed to have carried his dislike for Freemasons from his time of being a Catholic. (I sometimes wonder if the still didn't remain one? ) one should ask why does a Christian want to be like a Gentile anyway, seeking secular power? I would much rather have a Freemason as a president than a Pentecostal. while Tony supports Pentecostalism, it is not Christian either, Are Experiences a Valid Form of Truth?--that turns out to be actually a rhetorical question. Many of our great Presidents were freemasons. One thing I'd the band of any politician, is that he be rational. It might also help if he were honest.
if my memory serves me, those great "Christian" Presidents such as Reagan and Bush didn't even contribute 10% of their income to any church. So even though Romney is a Mormon and like all Roman Catholics, Mormons and Jehovah Witnesses is not a Christian, he at least set a good example, here.
"I do not define my candidacy by my religion," Romney said. "A person should not be elected because of his faith nor should he be rejected because of his faith."
Now thats a nice logical way of putting it. However the same definitely cannot be said of Obama whose Liberal convictions have tainted the Whitehouse in a way never before experienced. Therefore does the same rule apply to a Mormon in the house?
Mind you looking at Romney's expertise in the financial markets perhaps America needs those kind of skills in these days of recession?
Vote Romney and help lighten the deficit???
Luke 16:8 And the lord commended the unjust steward, because he had done wisely: for the children of this world are in their generation wiser than the children of light. 9 And I say unto you, Make to yourselves friends of the mammon of unrighteousness; that, when ye fail, they may receive you into everlasting habitations.
