Pastor Rob Bell, leaves megachurch to work on new TV show

One of Michigan's most noted religious leaders said good-bye to his congregation this week as he prepares to help create a TV series loosely based on his life.

Rob Bell, the founding pastor of the Mars Hill megachurch near Grand Rapids, is moving to California, where he will continue writing books and work on a TV show for ABC with the producer of "Lost."

According to Deadline.com, the series will be called "Stronger," about the life of "Tom Stronger, a musician and teacher, and his spiritual journey." The show will feature "autobiographical elements" from the life of Bell, Deadline said.

Bell was in a rock band before he became known as a Christian pastor. ...

Yes, Wolf indeed, and this helps prove it. When did Hollywood every embrace a God-fearing preacher who does not compromise? But this is where he belongs, not in a church. This is his true home now. Like Demas he departed to the world, for he never really left it.

Beware of any pretended pastor when Hollywood runs to help them, and make them a lot of money, to spread their propaganda through allegory (allegorical teaching is what TV episodes are really about; for indoctrination), for mass consumption to a lascivious world. He did not waste a New York minute in running to Hollywood for fame and fortune either. His dangerous influence will spread and could lead to persecuting Christians who preach the true doctrine of hell, probably under PC "hate laws". He's just popularizing the new morality of Political Correctness which hates the truth under the pretense of "love". If doctors treated us that way (spared the truth to not disturb us) it would be a crime.

Thank you good doctor. I wish thee and all thy staff a prosperous sabbatical, soon to return with more zeal than ever before.

Maybe at thy return thou shalt find the surveys returned back in place, and ready to do battle, (which, being interpreted means, hold discussions), that all may come to the unity of the truth; but, if not, to at least have respect for each one, seeing as the Bible says to "honour all men", where honour means honour, all means all, and men means mankind (which, being interpreted, includes women and children).

Thanks also to Mike New York, who seconded. Maybe if others will now put their own hands to the plough, we will be able to convince SA of the need to separate the theological debates from the "reading room" pipe-smokers.

NYP, "remember" gave you a good response. Billy Graham, by the way, is disliked is ecumenism, Billy Graham Believes Catholic Doctrine of Salvation Without Bible, Gospel, or Name of Christ. I'm sure many Christians are praying for him to become one, as they do for their Catholic friends and relatives –Is A Catholic Christian An Oxymoron? Even if Catholics like Susan Sarandon call (probably accurately) His Unholiness, an old Nazi, we would hope that Benny 16 would actually become a Christian.

For those who ask questions about Rob Bell, I gave one good overview of him, and here is another –Rob Bell: a Brother to Embrace, or a Wolf to Avoid?

Surveys, are little more than a popularity contests, but whatever SA besides, well that's what they decide.

I 2nd it, John.

Here's a question. Is there something stopping folks who complain of this topic not being Bellish enough, from adding something Bellish themselves?

I thought Rob Bell was supposedly writing about beliefs contrary to accepted doctrine and most things Jesus. Is that too big a discussion for this space to ask for the condensed version of the issue? Can anybody nutshell it for me?

Sorry: I didn't realize this was a Catholic Non Catholic debate thread. I thought it was about Rob Bell.
But then again, no matter what the News Topic is, it imediatly turnes into a denomination debate, or a bible version debate.
Have fun guys. Nothing has changed here in ten years.
I don't blame you for giving it up. I tried to adrees it myself. But you will find that most of the usual posters are either unwilling, or incapable of staying with the topic. They will defend their disorders, and demonize your determination. Pretending that they are far above your small mindedness, they will insult you. Having some freedom to travel, it's amazing how someone's tone changes when you show up at their doorstep wanting to discuss the matter on a Mt. 18 basis

Not you, pope wrote:
Although, Benedict XVI is a sinner, the office of Pope certainly qualifies as one set-apart.
That office is what the "papal antichrist" has been known as by Christians for centuries.

So not so much the incumbent who is simply an evil hearted sinner servant of Satan, more the office which holds the reigns of the idolatrous and blasphemous synagogue of Satan.

God's Holy law states
Ex 20:4 Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth:
5 Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me;

Holiness literally means "a set-apart one."

The Rev. Billy Graham could be called a "set-apart one."

Although, Benedict XVI is a sinner, the office of Pope certainly qualifies as one set-apart.

In fact and in the context of SA Breaking News, Jim Lincoln could also be called, His Holiness, becase he sets himself far apart from all others.

NYP, now only His Unholiness would follow this excellent example, by Bell The Pope and the Papacy.
Rob Bell said or, wrote:
I have as much in common with the performance artist, the standup comedian, the screenwriter, as I do with the theologian. I'm in an odd world where I make things and share them with people.

Working with the Producer of Lost? Interesting!
An enigmatic, existential, postmodern, emergent program, that related the afterlife dreams of people killed on impact when their plane crashed. Very fitting venture for Rob Bell.

At least Mr. Bell is no longer a pastor.

Wonder if he'll be receiving retirement checks from his megachurch?
