Penn Jillette: An Atheist's Guide to the 2012 Election
If you visit The Family Research Council (FRC) website, you can examine the "Pro-family voting record of your Member of Congress." The FRC, a conservative Christian lobbying group, is not alone in providing so-called "scorecards" that rate politicians according to how well they mesh with the group's core beliefs. Many labor groups, women's rights groups, environmental groups and various business interests offer similar services to their members and constituents.

What you won't see very often, however, is a scorecard for atheists. Until now. Penn Jillette, the talking member of Penn and Teller, prominent atheist and author of God, No! Signs You May Already Be an Atheist and Other Magical Tales, sized up the major candidates in the 2012 presidential race in a recent interview with Big Think. Jillette's scorecard is unique in a number of ways. For one thing, it's decidedly non-partisan. Jillette ...

That video was FASCINATING!

I REALLY appreciate Penn Jillette's candor, which is very illuminating regarding where he is, and where we (Christian believers) are.

His plea for some kind of "Rosetta Stone" to help him understand (and believe) what he reads in the Bible was convicting to me, in that I'm so often unmindful of the presence and power of the Holy Spirit in my own life and the lives of all believers.

Without the Spirit we'd be as lost as Mr. Jillette presently is even though both we and he have the entire Word of God available to us.

As Pastor Hranek pointed out, prayer is vital to reach the lost--and often more effective than just trying to "argue" them into "believeing. Especially those as hardened as Mr. Jillette appears to be at this time.

Have you ever read in your Bible?
Proverbs 26:12
Do you see a man wise in his own eyes?
There is more hope for a fool than for him.
A very telling proverb when one considers in the Sermon of the Mount Jesus ties fools NOT with Atheism but with those who hear His word and do not act upon it, to which I might comment there is more hope for an atheist than for someone who calls Jesus 'Lord, Lord' and repeatedly hears what the Bible says but ignores it because it interfers with the Church they want to go to.
I made an error in the previous communications post. I meant to state that atheists know there is a God. Yes I have read the Bible. I was taught and encouraged by my parents to read the Bible. I know the layout of the Bible so well that I can go to any book in the Bible within a matter of seconds. Jesus does not care one iota what church one who is Born Again attends as long as the church worships Him as God because church membership is totally superfluous to salvation and entering Heaven upon ones demise. Someone who has never attended church can become Born Again before they pass away and yet they will still enter Heaven.

Atheists are fools for claiming that there is no God. Atheists know there is no God but the idea of God interferes with their sexual mores. That is what one of the Huxleys stated in the 1960's that the reason that atheists state that there is no God is because the idea of God interferes with their sexual mores.

I really like Penn Jilette and listening to the entire video clip is very interesting. There are a few atheists that I do find entertaining. I'm also a fan of Ayn Rand. It makes me sad that these people are fools and without divine intervention are likely going to wake up in Hell one day. There is a bit of foul language in the rant but if you listen to the guy, he is practically begging in the end for someone to show him why he's wrong and why we believe. Unfortunately, it's a stumbling block and he just doesn't have the faith to come around to accepting the Bible as God's literal word.
Penn claims that he reads at least a chapter of the Bible a day, so hopefully if he is really looking for the truth, then he will find it.

Happy New Year!
I appreciate how your post illustrates IMHO the love and concern we ought to have for the lost.

May God Himself so mercifully intervene in this man's life to make Himself so real to Him that He cannot help but know the God He has denied really exists and His Son Jesus Christ died for me.

In my own testimony I found after I was saved people I did not know were praying with deep concern for me in a similar way, and thank God they were!
