Ky Church Overturns Ban on Interracial Couples
An eastern Kentucky church under a firestorm of criticism since members voted to bar mixed-race couples from joining the congregation overturned that decision Sunday, saying it welcomes all believers.

Stacy Stepp, pastor of the Gulnare Free Will Baptist Church in Pike County, told The Associated Press that the vote by nine people last week was declared null and void after it was determined that new bylaws can't run contrary to local, state or national laws. He said the proposal was discriminatory, therefore it couldn't be adopted.

Stepp said about 30 people who attended church services voted on a new resolution that welcomes "believers into our fellowship regardless of race, creed or color." ...

"it was determined that new bylaws can't run contrary to local, state or national laws."

Sounds awfully convenient to me, like the Mormon 1890 "revelation" on monogamy. Or did they suddenly remember the 501C3 duty to conform to public policy?

Recall that in 2000, BJU abandoned their equally stupid ban on interracial dating.

As long as a SSM lawsuit doesn't hit the U.S. Supreme Court.

Otherwise Bibles may soon include:

Galatians 3
28 There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free man, there is neither male nor female, there is neither gay nor straight; for you are all one in Christ Jesus.

Well, at least the daughter and the husband of my Pastor at Indian Hills Community Church could visit this church, though why do I have a feeling that family would not get a Christian welcome?

Galatians 3
27 For all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ.
28 There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free man, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus.
29 And if you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham's offspring, heirs according to promise.---NASB

I now forget the thread, but there is a famous Baptist who started to move over his racism, when he heard a famous missionary speaker say,"He would rather have his daughter marry a Christian Pakistani before she marry a white unbeliever."--words to that effect anyway. This is the primary test for a marriage partner, and the only one for Christians to be concerned about all of the rest is based on personal taste and choice.

"...new bylaws can't run contrary to local, state or national laws."

Hmmm!

"Then Peter and the other apostles answered and said, We ought to obey God rather than men." Ac 5:29

BTW, I am only speaking about this particular statement, not the interacial couples issue.

Very disturbing article. This is indeed racism and what makes this so disturbing is that it in a church!!!! I have no respect for this minister Stacey and the congregation that allowed someone to come up with this hateful cruel resolution and then to allow a vote!
