Saddleback Church Cancels Worship Services to Be Good Neighbor
Best-selling author and pastor Rick Warren is asking members of his congregation to take at least a half day on Saturday or Sunday (Dec. 10, 11) to go “serve in the community and love your neighbor as yourself.”
In its 31-year history, the megachurch has canceled weekend services less than a handful of times, according to Warren.
Church officials are hoping to mobilize Saddleback’s base of 5,000 Bible study groups, referred to as “small groups,” to perform their own chosen acts of kindness in their neighborhoods....
House churches are good as start ups, but they are not the biblical model, Clan/family churches are most definitely not the biblical model.
A church with elders is the biblical model.
1 Timothy 3 1 It is a trustworthy statement: if any man aspires to the office of overseer, it is a fine work he desires to do. 2 An overseer, then, must be above reproach, the husband of one wife, temperate, prudent, respectable, hospitable, able to teach, 3 not addicted to wine or pugnacious, but gentle, uncontentious, free from the love of money. 4 He must be one who manages his own household well, keeping his children under control with all dignity 5 (but if a man does not know how to manage his own household, how will he take care of the church of God?); 6 and not a new convert, lest he become conceited and fall into the condemnation incurred by the devil. 7 And he must have a good reputation with those outside the church, so that he may not fall into reproach and the snare of the devil. 8 Deacons likewise must be men of dignity, not double-tongued, or addicted to much wine or fond of sordid gain, . . .---NASB
To be better neighbors and for the sake of their souls, cancel worship on Christmas day and for 2012. Small groups and house churches are biblical NT groupings according to researcher, George Barna.
"Whether you become a Revolutionary immersed in, minimally involved in, or completely disassociated from a local church ("congregational-formatted ministry") is irrelevant to me (and, within boundaries, to God)."

Where do you find pulpit, pew, altar or baptismal font in the NT? Hint: They're not. Has your preacher added any of these to your worship service?
