HarperCollins Buys Out Thomas Nelson
HarperCollins Publishers today announced plans to take over Thomas Nelson.

A subsidiary of Rupert Murdoch's News Corp., HarperCollins said in a surprise statement that it had “entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Thomas Nelson, Inc. for an undisclosed sum.” The acquisition, which is expected to close by the end of the calendar year, is “subject to regulatory clearances and other customary closing conditions,” the company said.

No details of the terms were disclosed, nor was there any initial indication of how Thomas Nelson will fit under its new owner, also the parent company of Zondervan. ...

Yes, that what I was pointing out, they were selling a very bad Bible, and thankfully through a lot of their work Americans now have an accurate Bible in contemporary English! Now, they should have given up the profit of selling the Anglican Version, which refers to Holy Spirit as "it" blasphemy, and isn't in English but Elizabethan, my Dear Watson,
Dear KJV Only Advocate:
Edward H. Palmer wrote:
Do not give them a loaf of bread, covered with an inedible, impenetrable crust, fossilized by three and a half centuries. Give them the Word of God as fresh and warm and clear as the Holy Spirit gave it to the authors of the Bible. . . . For any preacher or theologian who loves God's Word to allow that Word to go on being misunderstood because of the veneration of an archaic, not-understood version of four centuries ago is inexcusable, and almost unconscionable
King James Version (KJV) ONLY???

No, Einstein, they SELL the AV. No wonder you can't grasp the English of the AV, Jim. You don't seem to be able to spell or post a lucid thought of your own. I'll always believe your disdain for the AV - even to the point of calling it the voice of satan - is mainly based on your own lack of reading comprehension skills. Why else would you lean so heavily on links to 'Ankerburg & Weldon'? Do you ever have a thought of your own? Nobody cares what those two think anyway. Why don't you buy yourself one of those 'Picture Bibles' with all of the pictures or maybe a 'Biblezine' from Thomas Nelson?

Yes, they sale the AV, and your description in that matter would be quite accurate. They were also instrumental in getting the New King James Version (NKJV Bible), created and published, which I would highly recommend as a replacement for the AV.

In my opinion Thomas Nelson is and has been a house of religious prostitution for years and they've been instrumental in peddling and profiting from corrupted 'translations' of every stripe. I haven't bought anything they've published in years for that reason.

I was planning to point out some of the history of Thomas Nelson, when I got on yesterday, and of course I would like to do that, since they were important in the movement of Part III: From the KJV to the RV (from Elegance to Accuracy).
Preface to the ASV New Testament wrote:
...But the reiterated suggestion to those Presses[RV publishers] to publish an edition especially for American readers not having met with favor, they acceded to the overtures of the Messrs. Nelson and engaged in preparing gratuitously the desired edition, to be issued when the expiration of the period specified should open the way for its honorable publication. The publishers, on their part, agreed to protect the version in its integrity, and to sell the book at a price not exceeding a fair profit on its cost.

T.N. & Sons were instrumental in getting us an accurate Bible.

Drs. Ankerberg & Weldon wrote:
In James White’s book, King James Only Controversy, there is a similar chart in which he compares the KJV, NIV and NASB. Of twelve primary references to Christ’s deity, the NASB is clear in 10 of 12 Scriptures. The NIV does it one better, clearly teaching Christ’s deity in 11 of 12 Scriptures. But, horrors, the KJV is clear at only 6 of 12 Scriptures. 4

Look for yourself. In the NIV/NASB are very clear or at least as clear as
the KJV:
• NIV—For in Christ all the fullness of the Deity lives in bodily form...
• NASB—For in Him all the fulness of Deity dwells in bodily form...
• KJV—For in Him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily.
Do you think these new translations look like a satanic conspiracy to deny the deity of Christ? Obviously not.

from The Conflict Over Different Bible Versions–Part Six
They also no doubt publish the AV.

"Did you know that Zondervan publishers (who publish the New international Version of the Bible) is owned by Harper Collins? Harper Collins also publishes The Joy of Gay Sex and The Satanic Bible. Tragically, many professed Christians know this yet continue to use their corrupted NIV bible. Oh how apostate America has become when even it's professed Christians are using corrupted Bibles that blasphemy and dishonor the Lord Jesus Christ.

It is absolute blasphemy what the NIV translators did to Philippians 2:6...

King James Bible: "Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God:

New International Version: "Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be grasped,"

Verse 5 makes it clear that this Scripture is speaking about Jesus Christ, "Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:" The NIV butchers have gone 180 degrees the opposite direction of the truth by saying that Jesus couldn't grasp equality with God. The Bible teaches that Jesus is not only equal with God, but Jesus is Almighty God." Jesus is Saviour . com

Thomas Nelson has been a lost cause for years. They would stamp 'Bible' on a roll of paper towels & sell it if they could. Plus, nowadays they publish nonsense by any heretic that sells.

Check out the Bibles from the Trinitarian Bible Society, Bearing Precious Seed (Lansing, MI or Milford, OH) or R.L. Allan Bibles. TBS and BPS are both not-for-profit so you can get some very nice Bibles for not much money.

They just got bought by the same company who publishes the Satanic Bible. One more loss for the sake of greedy gain.

Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo........

This is not good. Thomas Nelson was one of the last independent Bible publishers that put a check on Zondervan/Thomas Nelson by providing lower price Bibles. Now quality will continue to deteriorate and prices will rise. And I can only guess they're already planning a new, modernized edition of the NKJV.
