Obama: 'None of Us Make It on Our Own' Without Government Help
President Obama at a campaign fundraiser in Orlando, Florida on Tuesday night: "Now, I want to be very clear here. Nobody wants to punish success in America. The Republicans talk about class warfare. That’s — our goal is to make success available for everybody. What’s great about this country is you’ve got a good idea, you’ve got a service that nobody else has thought of, you know what, go out there, start a business. Make money. I want everybody out there to be rich. That’s great. Anybody in America should be able to make it if they try."
"But none of us make it on our own. Somebody — an outstanding entrepreneur like a Steve Jobs — somewhere along the line he had a teacher who helped inspire him. All those great Internet businesses wouldn’t have succeeded unless somebody had invested in the government research that helped to create the Internet. We don’t succeed on our own."...
Since the president can't make war nor does he issue decrees, then he is not a Caesar, so please stop saying that he is and expecting people to worship him.
Click on the links Jim and have your buddies take the challenge. It will do the world much good.
What challenge, Mr. Yoder? The President can make war, they have been ignoring the war power act. They have the power to launch a nuclear. They are not directly elected by the people but electors, which was of course originally was designed to stop a President being picked by the unwashed ignorant masses, hmm, it seems God have given the nod to masses.
American Presidents have more power than any other with that title, and more power than a few potentates.
I would think people who like the disgusting of idea Theonomy would love the idea of a strong President.
I know one thing there is going to be an absolute ruler during the Millennium.

I'm surprised your ancestors didn't move to Canada, if you think we should have had a king. Sorry, the pres was never designed to be king. I believe your Obama makes the same error. You're wrong, but you get points for effort. Don't want any self esteem probs, do we?

Oh, no, Neil! Not the Metric system!!! I think the rest of world has to go to inches, feet, and miles. the measurement of a Big Country! :nod
ARPANET, the DoD ancestor of the Internet, was *not* conceived as a civilian infrastructure project like the Pacific Railroad Acts or the Federal Aid Highway Act. It was an expedient with the mundane goal of making it easier to exchange data between universities & gov't laboratories (not surviving a nuke strike, though that was studied at RAND). There was no commercial angle to it at the time, other than contracting the hardware.
Its success in the marketplace was more by accident than by conscious policy. Imagine how it would've turned out if it was conceived as Progressives *wish* it was.
It does not follow that an accidental commercial benefit of gov't research justifies positive pursuit of the same, especially given the likelihood of corporate/political cronyism (e.g. Solyndra).
Now I do believe the Fed Gov't can play a positive role by encouraging commercial & international standardization (ANSI, ISO, etc.). Lyndon Johnson did that by an Executive Order that all fed. agencies use computers with the ASCII character set. I think that is in line with the Commerce Clause.
"Obama: 'None of Us Make It on Our Own' Without Government Help"
Jesus: "I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing."
"Thou shalt have no other gods before me."
"...And Jesus answered and said unto him, Get thee behind me, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve."
Good morning folks. Aside from those chem-trails that have blanketed the beautiful blue sky, it's a lovely day.

Ah Jim, you never fail to amaze. I hate to be the bearer of reality: The president of the US is not the ruler of the country. Never has been. Don't they teach American history in Nebraska?
