Police say sorry to cafe owner threatened with arrest over Bible DVDs
Police have apologised to a Christian cafe owner they threatened with arrest for displaying passages from the Bible on a television screen.
[...] Mr Murray said: âI accept the police apology as far as it goes, and I forgive them. But some things need to be cleared up.
âThey have said they were duty-bound to investigate me. But it wasnât an investigation. They had already made up their minds I was in the wrong. They never asked to look at the Bible DVDs or asked my side of the story. They have also said they never banned me from showing the Bible DVDs. Thatâs not true.
âI asked them straight â âAre you telling me I canât show the Bible DVDs?â They left me in no doubt that I risked being arrested if I continued to do so. I donât want this to happen to other Christians. I wonât let the police brush this under the carpet.â...
Here in Scotland I have repeatedly written and complained about the police attitude to Christians, particularly street preachers...
In an extended conversation with a senior officer whom openly admitted that one streat preacher was "ambushed" by a group of gay men, he had no other course of action but arresting the Preacher for "hate crimes" because he had the apparent audacity to quote scripture at the gay activists when telling them that sinners were hell bound.
Now to be fair it is possible that the preacher did cause offence, but where I argued is free speach and the right to free religious expression, the senior officer whom confessed to be a Christian said he had no alternative but to arrest and imprison the preacher as he had caused offence. !!!
As John UK quoted; In this world we shall have tribulation. so very true particularly in these last days. Oh that The Lord would increase our burden for the lost. Brethren let's commit much time to prayer for personnal revival, in preparation for a great awakening in the UK
This is nothing short of intimidation. There might be an apology this time, but it still paves the way for more and more harassment of Christians. I can't see this situation improving, but rather worsening as each year goes by. Not that I'm too bothered by it; Jesus said, "In this world ye shall have tribulation." And what a great time in history to stand up in the street corners and market places to declare God's word and "rescue the perishing". Brethren, "snatch them in pity from sin and the grave". Tell them, "it is time to seek the Lord." Jesus still saves all that call upon him from a penitent heart.
"Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest."
