The world will end October 21, says Harold Camping … but no billboards this time

This time the end of the world will be real, says 90-year-old California radio mogul Harold Camping — October 21, so be ready.

But he doesn’t sound quite so confident this time. He suffered a stroke shortly after his most recent false alarm — May 21. He’s been in a nursing home. But now, he’s proclaiming new warning.

"The world will end October 21, says Harold Camping"

It's October 22, 2011. So how's that prediction working out for you so far, HC?

Everyone who promotes this falsehood should read and reread the Master's explanation of His parable of the wheat and the tares.(Matt 13:37-43). Notice who is "taken away"and where they are taken to.

Jesus could not have said it any more clearly.

Read also the parable of the net.Once again the Lord clearly states the WICKED will be severed from among the just.

Verse 51 Jesus asks His disciples "Have ye understood all these things"?

No, the Church will not be here during the Tribulation. There will be Tribulation saints, but they are not the part of the original church. Dr. Ice who has spoken at IHCC a couple of times, has some interesting comments,
Why God's Purpose for the Tribulation excludes the Church--Thomas Ice wrote:
Not one Old Testament passage on the tribulation refers to the church (Deut. 4:29-30; Jer. 30:4-11; Dan. 8:24-27; 12:1-2), nor does the New Testament ever speak of the church in relation to the tribulation (Matt. 13:30, 39-42, 48-50; 24:15-31; 1 Thess. 1:9-10, 5:4-9; 2 Thess. 2:1-11; Rev. 4-18), except as present in heaven.
and of course a sermon here on SermonAudio, covers the topic well, too, Tribulation is Not for the Church.

The common thread that exists in the NT is that of suffering and persecution. It is written about in the gospels,as well as in Paul and Peter's epistles.
Why in the name of Jesus would so much of scripture be devoted to these topics if the generation living at the end were to be allowed to escape all suffering via a "rapture"before a "7 year tribulation"?Wouldn't that make God a respecter of persons? One thing the Bible states HE IS NOT.Jesus said to count the cost of becoming His follower, because it may just cost you everything.
The rapture teaching goes against everything that is in scripture, period.
As Jesus asked "Is the servant greater than his master"?
The rapture teaching is another lie of the devil, trying to deceive even the elect if that were possible.Just look around at the folks who promote it and see for yourselves. Most are lukewarm for Christ at best and are just looking for a way out of suffering while clinging to all the "blessings".

Lurker, what's to discuss? Rapture, Pre-Tribulation, and dispensationalism are the correct ways of interpreting the Bible. As I pointed out, Mysteries of the Kingdom is a short read, that should do it for you. A-Trib, Post-Trib are false ideas, really a holdover from Catholicism. I gave you the arguments that cover them. I think I also gave you third party commentaries that covered Bible verses you brought up as well?

More links and cut and paste churned out with the monotony of a machine. The surest way to drive me away from a dscussion.

So, having received no biblical evidence whatsoever that there is/will be/whatever a second kingdom of God purely literal, physical and observable, I will respect your right to be wrong and take my leave.

First of all before answering Lurker, Kingdoms, there has always been The Universal Kingdom of God. However the Godhead's power will be clear The Victory of the Lamb, the Kingdom of Heaven. and,
and just for a short read, Mysteries of the Kingdom.

Lurker:

What's the problem with Amos?

Jamieson, Fausset, Brown intro. Amos (in part) wrote:
. . . .
The first six chapters are without figure; the last three symbolical, but with the explanation subjoined. He first denounces the neighboring peoples, then the Jews, then Israel (from the third chapter to the end), closing with the promise or restoration under Messiah (Am 9:11-15). . . .
One can only understand the Bible in it's truest sense without understanding the Dispensations of God. (Yes, listen to that one )

jpw,
I believe the dispensationalists seperate peoples of god(earthly and heavenly), and different orders of salvation per dispensation rather than kingdoms. Their eschatology takes a bizarre turn during the millineal reign as 'Glorified & Immortal Saints' rule over mortals that survived the tribulation. The mortals rebel after a thousand years then the final judgment.

Of course the above scenerio violates countless pillars of Christian historic beliefs, but the temptations of today & later to rule in an earthly theocracy must outweigh the contradictions for them.

SteveR, thanks for that, I am seeing this too, was bit nervous reading it, thinking that somehow I was going to be "unliteral", but I just read it. And the timing of the Lord is so excellent here, because Daniel was discovering that their time of captivity was ending according to the prophets. He was looking forward to end of capt and rebuilding of the temple, am I correct? What I am reading is the temple will be rebuilt, but within those 70 7's, the Messiah Himself would come to set up a new covenant. Wow! This would explain why many in Jerusalem received Jesus, expecting the imminent coming of the Messiah, because this was at the end of the 70 7's!!

God was preparing the Israelites for the Messiah.

This is what I am reading here!! And there were those who rejected the Messiah, who taught the people that the Messiah was to set up an earthly Kingdom, and for this Judas betrayed Christ--redmption from gentiles instead of redmption of sins

the parables of Christ-- He said the Kingdom of God is like.......the Kingdom of heaven is like...... and some are insisting the Kingdom of God will be....

How many "Kingdom of heaven"'s do you think there are?

I could be missing something here but does it come down to:
dispensational = Daniel 9 devil contract
historical = Daniel 9 Messiah covenant
Am I understanding the framing correctly?
jpw,
When I think of Daniel Chapter 9, I think of a devout Godly man and his prayer to Our Lord God. Daniels prayer of confession and reconcilation and its appeal for mercy towards his people is a great inspiration for me as his Prayer is powerfully answered. It is answered with the promise of our Messianic Covenent that will extend to 'the many' through the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ by his shed blood to accomplish that reconcilation.

How dispensationalists can ignore this faithful prayer, and convince themselves its goal is to warn of a 'devil contract' should be a cause of great despair for all Christians here as a number of Churches on Sermonaudio follow this eschatology.

Jim,

Regarding Scofield's allusion to Zech 12:8.... I assume he is insisting this must have a literal fulfillment and that fulfillment is what John recorded in Rev 19&20 and since it has not yet been observed literally it is yet future.

You have posted lots of reading material so I hope you will take a few minutes to read the following....

Read Amos chapter 9 to get your head wrapped around the context. OK? Now read again verses 11 & 12 and then refer to the texts corresponding fulfillment as cited by James in Acts 15:14-17. Still with me? If so it should be apparent that the prophecy of Amos 9 had its fulfillment when God called Paul out of darkness and sent him to preach the gospel to the Gentiles.

Now, if you're still with me go back to Amos 9:10.....

"All the sinners of my people shall die by the sword, which say, The evil shall not overtake nor prevent us."

Fulfilled as promised? Literally?

You see, Jim, you have bought into a rigid literal hermeneutic which hides most eschatological truth from your field of vision. Let the bible determine how it must be interpreted.

Jim Lincoln wrote:
Ah, Gentlemen while Charles I. isn't perfect he gives a fairly good answer...
See Eye doesn't say anything about two kingdoms of God.

Rugh speaks of some mysterious "universal kingdom of God" which exists eternally and all creation is part of; even the ungodly, mosquitos, rats and poison ivy. Even if it did exist, it would have nothing to do with the kingdom of God both Jesus and Paul preached. But, alas, it exists in the fertile imagination of the die hard Dispy.

There is only one kingdom of God, Jim, the one believers are translated into according to Col 1:13, and you really should deal with it rather than kick against it. Until you do, your bible remains filled with contradictions and inconsistencies which you have created by imposing a faulty hermeneutic and a faulty eschatology onto it. That leaves you in a weak position to argue versions but I'll leave that subject for others to run with.

I listened to two of Jim's sermons about the premillenial rapture, etc.

based on Daniel 9

I read Daniel 9 for myself. I read it word for word. I didn't insert a gap---which is not written there, and I did not insert the word antiChrist. (just trying to see what was written)

I saw the 70 7's, (490 years?). I found that the historical understanding of Daniel 9 is that the prince is not the antiChrist, but Christ, and that the covenant, moving from the rebuilding of temple and ending of old testament to the new covenant through the Messiah was for eternal life in the Kingdom of heaven, not a 7 year contract with the devil.

I found out that the 490 years has been literally accounted for by hist persp using dates of temple building through Christ's life, etc., there are some differences on this.

I did not know this until last night, so thank you everyone for this thread. There's a big divide on Daniel 9!---one "side's" prince is the coming Messiah and the end of temple sacrifice for the Lamb of God, and the other "side's" prince is the antiChrist.

I could be missing something here but does it come down to:

dispensational = Daniel 9 devil contract

historical = Daniel 9 Messiah covenant
