Police in Lancashire have told the owner of a Christian café to stop displaying Bible texts on a video screen, because it breaches public order laws.
Officers attended the Salt & Light Coffee House on Layton Road, Blackpool, on Monday 19 September, following a complaint about “insulting” and “homophobic” material.
The café’s owner, Mr Jamie Murray, says the officers did not specify which Bible texts had caused the offence.
They might not have complained about these verses?
Romans 13 13:1 Let every person be in subjection to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and those which exist are established by God. 2 Therefore he who resists authority has opposed the ordinance of God; and they who have opposed will receive condemnation upon themselves.---NASB
Now if they were using Bible verses such as this and from this source,
1 Timothy 1:9 9 realizing the fact that law is not made for a righteous man, but for those who are lawless and rebellious, for the ungodly and sinners, for the unholy and profane, for those who kill their fathers or mothers, for murderers 10 and immoral men and homosexuals and kidnappers and liars and perjurers, and whatever else is contrary to sound teaching,---NASB
Which make it very plain where God stands on some practices/ beliefs. One can see why these owners were persecuted by the police, or e.g., 1 Corinthians 6:9--if people understood the verses!
Another way to look at such is that the display of gospel texts and bible placards in the UK is now so rare that the ungodly will complain when they see such, for the word of God always offends their very being.
But would the Police become involved if Bible placards and gospel texts etc were common place outside church buildings?
So do we see the beginning of the problem is a silent witness from evangelical churches who do not display any Gospel text outside their building or who never do any street preaching? How then can they complain?
Bible posters are available from the TBS if you dowload the catalogue and look at page 23, orders by email.
In the article the double standards it is ok to show Muslim placards which denegrate this country but yet not bible verses Are we being convicted of not trying to offend particular groups which is an endless task Yet the one they truly are offending is god
