A Christian leader believes if a Republican is elected president next year, military leaders will start telling the truth about the negative consequences of allowing homosexuals to openly serve in the military.
Dr. Richard Land is president of the Southern Baptist Convention's Ethics & Religious Liberty Commission. He says it was a "sad day" for the men and women of the United States military when the new law took effect this week allowing homosexuals to openly serve in the military. He predicts the policy change will "seriously degrade unit morale" and lead to "a myriad of problem."
Land predicts that unless the policy is reversed, "significant numbers" of dedicated service members will be compelled to get out of the armed forces. And the Baptist leader expects chaplains endorsed by his denomination will put their careers in danger if they express what the Bible says about homosexuality....
