Postal workers refused to deliver CDs of Bible readings after deciding they were ‘offensive material’.
Several churches had paid for discs with recordings of St Mark’s Gospel to be produced to celebrate the 400th anniversary of the King James Bible.
Rev Liz Hunter of St Helier Methodist Centre said: ‘Initially Jersey Post seemed quite positive about helping us deliver the CDs.
‘But then a couple of weeks ago somebody from their marketing department phoned to say they would be unable to deliver them on the grounds that they could be deemed offensive....
Even postal inspectors in this country, John Y., can determine if some mail is illegal from content, if they know what it is, or what is physically inside a piece of mail.
What is strange since they have Prince Charlie, probably a future king of England if by some side event his mother doesn't outlive him, reading from the AV, saying he is doing something illegal should get this postal station in hot water indeed, even if he isn't on these particular recordings.
Of course if these reading are done in "rap" style they could be offensive to everyone, just as a woman preacher should be, Women Preachers.
One reader's comment to the story, which perhaps should cover what the general public in England would think about it:

an excerpt of the comments to the article. A rational response from a non-believer.
Of course there is foul language in the AV, this why you don't let children look it over or use it in schools.
However since it is in Elizabethan English, probably the typical Englishman will dismiss as Shakespeare; perhaps something to be reverenced but never to be read.
This was a very strange response by the English postal service, and apparently many of the people who gripped about the Bible don't really know what is in The Qur'an, which would be an extremely filthy book, even in modern English. I would expect this blasphemy has no problem being sent in the English mail?
Whoever dreamed up this conclusion is either an atheist bigot, or plain downright foolish.
What is "offensive" is mankind and his history. Society writes books on remembers and teaches NAZI's and Aushwitz, mans criminal past, present and future eg murder, rape, paedophilia, and abortion, recorded for daily reading/watching in the news media. Read societies history of 19th century and previous, and how people were treated eg child labour, (slavery) factory workers who had an average life expectancy of 35 years and many less than that. "Navvies" who built the roads and railway tracks (UK) and were the biggest drunks and notorious brawlers around. To mention but a few of man's recorded historic evil past.
Mankinds history is more "offensive" than any record on this planet. If some of these postal workers think that the book of Mark is offensive, then they really are ignorant of their own evil hearts and the dominion of sin in which they live. Clearly they don't think much of their customers who have the ability to make their own decisions about what they read and accept.
