Atheist Defends Teacher Suspended for Anti-Gay Marriage Facebook Post
A Florida high school teacher who was suspended from the classroom for a comment he made against gay marriage on his Facebook page has gained an unlikely defender ‚Äď an atheist.
Hemant Mehta, also known as the "friendly atheist," initially wanted to join in on the backlash against the teacher ‚Äď Jerry Buell from Mount Dora High School. But he now argues that Buell should not be punished for his beliefs about homosexuality, as long as they are not articulated in the classroom.
"This is a free speech issue," Mehta wrote on his blog Saturday. "You don‚Äôt have to like what Buell said ‚Äď I know I don‚Äôt ‚Äď but everyone has the right to believe what they want, even if it‚Äôs crazy, untrue, or harmful."...
It don't matter what anyone in the world believes, says, or thinks what matters now and always did and always will is what the Word of our Lord says. And wheather we believe it or not wheather we want to accept it or not what is written is happening and is happening quick!
