I love this ministry, and I believe it is worth every penny God's people put into it.

The Holy Spirit is quite able to preserve God's truth and his people. He doesn't need "infallible" champions, nor does he use them, which that dust-gathering book makes clear.

Our Catholic visitors should take note that conservative Protestants would agree with this,

The Romish Church has no authority recognized by God to say what His Word is, because Roman Catholic Tradition supports such nonsense as The Pope and the Papacy.

The RCC is no more Christians than the United Church of Christ.

Agreed, Michael, all Roman Catholics should make a Pilgrimage From Rome.

I hope you understand I am a former never to be again Roman Catholic, who was thoroughly a God hating sinner who despised those who knew Christ and actually followed Him in the obedience of faith (not religious rituals although I scoffed over them).

UNTIL God saved me in 1980, and I was born again of the Holy Spirit and changed by God and for God

and because of this if you are willing to listen I can speak to you with knowledge and understanding of "Catholicism" and more important than that of Genuine Biblical Salvation.

btw I am a Baptist type believer NOT a Protestant.

The RCC might not intend to but their religious system denigrates the Bible with Tradition and the teachings of the Magisterium and let me include infant 'baptism'. Let me kindly remind you it is God Himself who has given man the Scriptures and we have the right to listen to His Word and learn from Him.

'Good Catholics' don't have such liberty to look to Scripture as Truth their sole authority of what to believe about God and the obedience He requires of men and, in my words, 'Good Catholics' are in bondage to violate their conscience to justify the disobedience of their Religion and Tradition

2. However, there's a trend to follow Occam's Razor and lop off those books that are deemed unnecessary or contrary to any one of the thousands of different Protestant Gospel summary versions (e.g., 4 Spiritual Laws, Evangelization Explosion).

3. With Protestantism's central teaching authority vanishing as mainline denominations collapse by falling on the twin swords of errancy and fallibility, who will the Holy Spirit preserve to champion inerrancy and infallibility?

1. But how do you interpret John 3:16?

2. The RCC also has lopped off or discounted many spiritual books from the canon of scripture. The Protestant evaluation is evidenced correct by the fact that all born again, blood bought believers, who are filled with the Spirit (author of scripture) have the testimony within (not intellectually, but spiritually) of which religious material is true and which is spurious.

3. Good question, if you mean the inerrancy of scripture!

Do you require a list?

Still cutting God out of the scene eh Roman Catholic. Your works based religion appears to affect everything you think say or do.

GOD said
John 16:13 Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come."

I suppose the Holy Spirit does not have a part to play in Roman Catholic theology and doctrine. He must be neutralised by the RC philosophy? Is that Roman doctrine?

Dear Jim Lincoln,

Greetings to you in the name of our Lord & Savior!

Since there's no central teaching authority in Protestantism, there's no one to say that certain books shall (or shall not) be in the Bible canon. Mr. Ankerberg is just one Protestant opinion.

Blessings in our Lord!

In Christ,

Your Catholic Friend

Here's another one worth pondering on, till it dawns on you that neither baptism nor daily masses are effectual, but simple trust in the Son of God brings you eternal life.

He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him.
John 3:36 KJV

Of course, the great danger for him who is not content with a childlike trust in Christ, is that he claims God is a liar. Such an one "shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him."

I exhort you to ponder and meditate on these two texts and give up your phariseeical ways. How you can call Jesus "Lord", and deny his clear word, is explained in scripture as "dead", "blind", "deaf". Truly it will take a gracious act of the gracious God to reverse these spiritual and deadly problems for you.

Thanks for your comment Michael and your ministry. Yes genuine salvation is a wonderful truth. Notice how the above says the "moment" we are saved (believe/trust) then we have everlasting life. We don't have it and lose it and then regain it over and over like these works based folks teach. Everlasting sounds like a long time to me.

You and I and so many others came out of this manmade cult by the grace of God and no longer fear them. There is no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus and we have peace with God!

Biblio

I realise you do not like the word of God being given out to millions of people, that they may have the opportunity of learning about Jesus Christ and salvation by faith in him alone, but surely you would not recommend giving to every man the 66 authoritative books and 7 apocryphal books in order to bring others to faith?

The reason this Gospel of John Project is so good, is because the Gospel is eminently readable and contains everything any sinner needs to know about the Lord Jesus Christ to bring him to faith in him alone for the forgiveness of sins and the gift of eternal life, along with full assurance of such a salvation by the witness of the Holy Spirit indwelling him.

It's a shame you feel unable to say something positive about this project, but maybe if you yourself was to read the Gospel, you may hear the voice of Jesus calling you to himself. This is how God, by his Spirit, brings sinners to salvation

But they have not all obeyed the gospel. For Esaias saith, Lord, who hath believed our report? So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.
Romans 10:16-17 KJV

(Catholic)Bibliophile

I can understand how a Catholic could be upset with giving people free the Gospel of John as The Holy Spirit moved John to give us in one Book:

John 20:30,31
30 And many other signs truly did Jesus in the presence of his disciples, which are not written in this book:
31 But these are written, that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing ye might have life through his name.

Kind of different don't you think from how the RCC cannot give or point anyone to genuine know so Biblical Salvation (1 John 5:13) but only a wishful fantasy of religious make believe Catholics after suffering in an imaginary Purgatory will one day get into heaven.

This Book you seemly denigrate has a verse no Catholic friend, relative, nun priest or bishop ever pointed me to, telling me it is Truth, that I could believe in Jesus Christ who died and rose again for me to save me from sin completely and forever.

John 3:16
