Texas Governor Draws Criticism on Prayer Event
When Gov. Rick Perry invited fellow governors to join him on Aug. 6 for ‚Äúa day of prayer and fasting on behalf of our troubled nation,‚ÄĚ some speculated that he was trying to raise his national visibility for a possible presidential run.

Absolutely not, said Mr. Perry, a conservative Christian who described the event, to be held in a Houston stadium, as an ‚Äúapolitical Christian prayer service‚ÄĚ to provide ‚Äúspiritual solutions to the many challenges we face in our communities, states and nation.‚ÄĚ

Whatever the goals, his plan has drawn strong protests from advocates for the separation of church and state, who say an elected leader should not be leading what looks to be, in effect, an evangelical Christian revival. Gay rights groups are also objecting because Mr. Perry placed the event in the hands of conservative religious groups that not only oppose gay marriage but also stridently condemn ...

Yes Jim, if he is a typical Methodist, then there is only a semantical difference between him and a Catholic. Both groups are heretical in that they don't understand the gospel and that is the main thing. Both groups worship a reinvented Christ. I also noticed that Gov. Perry believes that an innocent life can be extinguished if derived from rape or incest. Now what did these little innocent lives do that make them deserving of death? They didn't commit rape or incest.

I know exactly what you mean about the Methodist Church not believing in the inspiration of the Holy Bible because the Methodist Church ordains women to the ministry which is in clear violation of what Saint Paul stated in 1 Timothy. The Methodist Church does not believe that 1 Timothy was written by Saint Paul. They believe that 1 Timothy was written by another Paul.

Perry is not Catholic. Perry is Methodist.
