Teenage girls flaunting more skin than ever as hemlines get shorter
TEENAGE girls are flaunting more skin than ever, raising the eyebrows of many women across Melbourne as hemlines get shorter and shorter

Girls as young as 13 are purposely - and proudly - revealing breasts, backsides, navels and backs, and wearing clothing so tight and fitted that little is left to the imagination.

Fashion and etiquette experts have issued a plea to girls to cover up, with one even accusing some young women of dressing like "streetwalkers".

"I find it amazing how particular
song lyrics can capture at times the essence of things

God agrees with."

My friend, Phil Keaggy, was telling me a couple of minutes ago on a tape on my stereo:

"Just don't know where, where to begin
When earthly kings surrender to this world of sin.
To walk the walk, talk the talk, truth is
Heaven on earth is one stairway
That can't be bought.
The price is paid, we believe that our God reigns,

The true believers stand on every word You say,
The true believers made alive in Christ today,
This is how we survive and where we mean to stay.
The true believers."

My friend Pat, was telling me a couple of minutes ago on a record,

"Now listen, everybody 'cause I'm talkin' to you
The Lord is the only one to carry you through
Ya better get ready 'cause I'm tellin' ya why
The Lord is a-comin' from his throne on high
Goin' down the valley, goin' one by one
We're gonna be rewarded for the things we've done
How ya gonna feel about the things you'll say on that judgment day?"

Hey Revivalandreformation
It never occurred to me to look at those links next to a persons name. Am having a look at your blog-site and finding it joy. Love any that buildup and edify the body of believers without compromise. Will contact you.

All saints standing without compromise are a rarity in this world.

The issue of Headcovering has more to do with obedience. Had God called all men to wear a nose ring and a hat, I would jump and do it even if I didn't understand why.

The greater evangelical community doesn't understand the significance of headcovering, so we toss it out as a cultural thing of the past. We don't understand it because God doesn't explain it. Here, God is only calling for our obedience.

The Church missed the boat on divorce too. Jesus says that with hardened hearts we insisted on it our way.
God's model at creation was for us to have only one wife but worked thru most saints that breached that law. And in every one of their cases there were problem for them, as well as for generations to come.

Gods ways are wonderful. God is wonderful. There's blessings in obeying ALL his laws.

EP,
I dont believe I quoted him. If you would like a quote, here it is

"“So if women are thus permitted to have their heads uncovered and to show their hair, they will eventually be allowed to expose their entire breasts, and they will come to make their exhibitions as if it were a tavern show; they will become so brazen that modesty and shame will be no more; in short they will forget the duty of nature...Further, we know that the world takes everything to its own advantage. So, if one has liberty in lesser things, why not do the same with this the same way as with that? And in making such comparisons they will make such a mess that there will be utter chaos. So, when it is permissible for the women to uncover their heads, one will say, ‘Well, what harm in uncovering the stomach also?’ And then after that one will plead [for] something else; ‘Now if the women go bareheaded, why not also [bare] this and [bare] that?’ Then the men, for their part, will break loose too. In short, there will be no decency left, unless people contain themselves and respect what is proper and fitting, so as not to go headlong overboard” (Sermon on 1 Cor 11:2-3 in Men, Women and Order in the Church, trans Seth Skolnitsky, Presbyterian Heritage Publications, pp. 12-13).

I don't know everything Calvin said, he was a productive writer, but I am familiar with what he wrote on head coverings and modesty and I believe you have misquoted him SteveR.

But in essence, he did say that the lack of subjection to God's ordained authorities demonstrated by a woman in her 'shamefacedness' 1 Tim. 2:9 (Strongs G127 a sense of shame or honour, modesty, bashfulness, reverence, regard for others, respect) would in time lead to an unbecoming boldness and impropriety in their dress.

Calvin was usually balanced in his Scriptural requirements for both men and women, but he definitely regarded the women as the weaker vessel and preached to her accordingly.

This topic reminds me of the head covering controversy, and how so many self appointed guardians of orthodoxy have changed their views on this issue. Its now a rare thing to see a woman properly covered in Church.

Calvin warned us centuries ago that the loss of this requirement would lead down a path to when society would be so fallen away, that attendance at Church with an exposed belly button would be acceptable

At the turn of the 19th century, women began to show their ankles. Preachers would proclaim this to be a slippery slope to nakedness...they were mocked. Exposed ankles led to exposed legs, then to exposed thighs, exposed cleavage, exposed mid-riffs etc. with each generation getting worse than the last and much of this generation saying that God does not care what they where.
"Because thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing; and knowest not that thou art ...naked:" - Revelation 3:17

Lady_Virtue, what can I say. Coming from you, that encouragement is especially big.

Yes brother, love to talk.

Although churches do a very good job of outlining mans responsibilities, I do want to add somethings. lets you & I both examine ourselves. You picked up on "slave" lifestyle.

Christ has a far higher expectation for men. With Christ as example, it asks for us to give our very life to protect our bride. Most sermons do an excellent job of describing the servant like nature of Christ. I'd like to put forward this one as well.

The gospels record that, as our Lord was being led away during the trial, Peter, as predicted was standing there denying Him. Luke tells us that the Lord turned and looked right at Peter. And what Peter couldn't see was that while he was standing there denying his Lord, at that very moment the Lord of all heavens was on his way to pay for Peters freedom.

Christ is our example.

As Paul Washer says, "If you're not selling, stop advertising." These girls are being raised by the culture and the media they are exposed to. Their moms are no better and they have no real role models in their lives except that which they view on MTV and such. It's a systematic wearing down of our morals, a little bit at a time over the generations until what? Full nudity? Look out it's coming. God help our children who actually want to serve God through their modesty.

It's the result of the Church trying to keep up with times. It's very rare to find a church that will adhere to the true biblical standards for women. Most churches, when they expound the biblical role of woman, will gush with apologies and qualify with "but", and how really really important they are.

Why is it that the church is afraid, as if women won't be able to handle the role God has established for them. If God has called for it, there are blessings in it. But how many churches call for head coverings. How many will teach headship that transfers from father to husband. Women weren't supposed to wear men's clothing.

The husband/wife was a model after Christ/Church. Most pastors will capitulate here because they want to be liked.

I echo that this is a good, insightful comment, and sadly, all too true. I cringe whenever I hear a minister "gush with apologies and qualify Biblical truth with 'but...' ." It seems too many love praise (acceptance, approval) from men more than from God.

An unregenerate MAN cannot understand the slave, an absolute bond-servant,broken, humble nature of his relationship with regards to Christ. It's crazy to him. But that's the truth. Why is it that the church is afraid, as if women won't be able to handle the role God has established for them...Women weren't supposed to wear men's clothing.
None of this sell-able today. The cults have also caused much damage in this area.

With moral decline being legislated by satanic governments and parents accepting these licentious declines - what can you expect from kids brought up in such a sodomite atmosphere.

Western nations are corrupt, vile and a violation to God's law and the community He would have us build.

Prov 29:16 When the wicked are multiplied, transgression increaseth: but the righteous shall see their fall.
