Professor implicates the pill for changing face of marriage
Among young, single Americans, men still want sex and women still want love and commitment. But the rules of engagement have changed dramatically since the birth-control pill and these rules “clearly favor men,” sociology professor Mark Regnerus told a think tank Tuesday.

There is collateral damage in this modern paradigm, added Mr. Regnerus, co-author of “Premarital Sex in America: How Young Americans Meet, Mate, and Think About Marrying.”

More than a few women who plan to marry and have children before age 40 will not be able to fulfill those plans, he said. And men are becoming obsolete to women, especially those who were taught to rely only on themselves. ...

The Scripture has much to say regarding these things in both the Old and New Testaments. Balance is key. Having read a number of your posts I can empathize with what you say. I thought of something that might be of help.

I once had a minister who was raised in the Scottish/Irish RPCNA in NYC. He spoke often of his mother, never of his father and mostly of his difficult youth. Something he taught that stuck with me was that Paul wrote 1 Cor.7 against the background of present persecution. Scripture is relevant for all times, but particularly relevant when it was penned during a similar time. Imagine; you're under persecution from family, church and state; now read 1 Cor. 7 and ask the Lord to show you his will for you today; if you understand what I am saying.

Genesis 2:18 - "And the LORD God said, It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him a help meet for him."

I Corinthians 11:9 - "Neither was the man created for the woman; but the woman for the man."

Ephesians 5:21 - "Submitting yourselves one to another in the fear of God."

I Corinthians 7:3-4 - "Let the husband render unto the wife due benevolence: and likewise also the wife unto the husband. The wife hath not power of her own body, but the husband: and likewise also the husband hath not power of his own body, but the wife."

I am one of those ladies who was taught to "rely only on [my]self" and "depend on no one." Many of my female contemporaries are as well. Often, such ladies have poor marital prospects and are stuck with unwanted singleness.

Another sad consequence to this is that because "their maidens were not given to marriage" (Psalm 78:63), no children are born. God seeks a godly seed (Malachi 2:15). For Christians, this diminishes the body of Christ in numbers and leaves us without a next generation to care for the previous one in their old age. No grandchildren are born either, thus bringing an end to the passing down of the Christian faith through families.

Sad indeed.

The sympto-thermal method is natural, reads the changing seasons of the body through fertility/non-fertility/pregnancy/nursing.

Too bad the Protestant Church and its great resources of doctors, etc, have not found it necessary to teach their families how the procreative body works from a Creation point of view, instead, relying on a highly mechanical, isolationist, evolutionary description of the body---and missing out on a beautiful story of how God made man and woman.

In a world where these things were taught and understood, the older women would pass down their knowledge to the younger, as well the older men to the younger men......instead now the moral and medical leadership is in the hands of the evolutionary allopath, who enjoys the depopulation effects of the birth control pill, and usually could care less the chemical effects of subverting the natural systems of the body of a perfectly healthy woman.

My family, once facing head on the reality of the mechanisms of the pill, repented and searched for answers.

Not only does The Pill hurt families and children, it hurts women.

The Birth Control Pill = Group One Carcinogen.

"Before The Pill ... sex and marriage were closely linked. If a young man wanted to have sex with a young woman, he had to “pay an elevated price” for it, with a marriage proposal, if not marriage. The young woman, in turn, got a serious commitment from the young man in exchange for her sexual favors.

"But The Pill ended that exchange rate, he said. Now sex is conducted without marriage, and “the price of sex is pretty low” — low-commitment or no-commitment sexual hookups are common, while high-commitment marriage is postponed, sometimes for decades."

Isn't this even destroying Christian marriage and doing great spiritual harm to covenant children caught in this sexual tsunami?
