Hallelujah! At Age 400, King James Bible Still Reigns
This year, the most influential book you may never have read is celebrating a major birthday. The King James Version of the Bible was published 400 years ago. It's no longer the top-selling Bible, but in those four centuries, it has woven itself deeply into our speech and culture.

Let's travel back to 1603: King James I, who had ruled Scotland, ascended to the throne of England. What he found was a country suspicious of the new king.

"He was regarded as a foreigner," says Gordon Campbell, a historian at the University of Leicester in England. "He spoke with a heavy Scottish accent, and one of the things he needed to legitimize himself as head of the Church of England was a Bible dedicated to him." ...

Your post have convinced no one and they never will. So, go on, keep wasting your time. Spend ALL your christian live raging against the KJV, instead of doing the work the Lord called you to do. Then watch at the judgment seat of Christ as all your time goes up in smoke as wood hay and stubble. What a Wasted life indeed!!!
Just thought your post needed to be repeated.

Jim dominates these threads so much with his delusions. We should all show up at his church sporting anti nasb signs.

Lockerman, I don't know if I have the KVOnly cultists to praise or blame. I never gave much thought about the AV, until I started seeing this nonsense that the AV, was the only Bible for English speakers (and some would say white, and English Israelite types to boot -- in other words sadly very Mormon. ) So, now I have done enough looking into the matter to warn people away from the AV. See what good work you have done, KVOnly types!

Bob the Baptist, here is what some good Baptists have to say about KJVO. Is the King James Version the Only Bible Christians Should Read and Trust? ---part 1, no translation is perfect, Is the King James Version the Only Bible Christians Should Read and Trust? ---part 2, there are many good reasons, "Why KJVO Claims and Arguments Cannot Be Trusted", Is the King James Version the Only Bible Christians Should Read and Trust? ---part 3

Why Lockerman, King James is going to be manhandled again! The new NIV is about to be launched!!! I'm surprised that SA didn't put this up, Out with the old, in with the new: NIV 2011 hits stores this month.

As long as there are cults around such as Mormons, the AV like the perennial dandelion will be out their too. It just takes people like me to spray this weed with the truth to keep it under control.

I Corinthians 14
10 There are, perhaps, a great many kinds of languages in the world, and no kind is without meaning.
11 If then I do not know the meaning of the language, I shall be to the one who speaks a barbarian, and the one who speaks will be a barbarian to me.---NASB

Kinda like the nasb, niv, esv, whatever... I can't remember what they were, just soft, sweet, cold, and for the moment a muse.
The difference between what calls itself a version and the real English Bible is like the difference between Andy Warhol and Monet.
Hard to figure out how people are sustained on this stuff, and why all the hub-bub. I think Any Warhol is a bore.
So your a vanilla onlyist? I'm kinda scratching my head, trying to figure out how that is like Monet, who painted more color and variety than one-note Warhol.

Have ye no better witnesses then this Jim?

Allow me; WCF Chapter 1 point 8.

The Old Testament in Hebrew (which was the native language of the people of God of old), and the New Testament in Greek(which at the time of the writing of it was most generally known to the nations), being immediately inspired of God,and by His singular care and providence kept pure in all ages, are therefore authentical; so as in all contraversies of religion, the Church is finally to appeal unto them, therefore they are to be translated unto the vulgar language of every nation unto which they are come, that the Word of God dwelling plentifully in all, they may worship Him in an acceptable manner, and through patience and comfort of the Scriptures, may have hope." proof texts available on request.

Apparently the NASB is in your vulgar tongue, Jim - understandable.

It's a book that people buy and just leave lying around hoping it's magical spells will just pop out by themselves and effect the people around them.

William Bell Riley wrote:
Is the King James version absolutely inerrant? On this point we are inclined to think that, even unto comparatively recent years, such a theory has been entertained. The result, of course, is to make a sort of fetish of the book. That is why, in many a family, it is kept on the center-table and seldom used. They do not want to soil its sacredness….
