NY State: Dangerous games - kickball, tag
Watch out for those dangerous games of kickball.

The state Department of Health may label games such as tag, Wiffleball, kickball and horseshoes as posing a "significant risk of injury" at day camps and may require indoor day camps that offer those activities to be regulated by state and local health officials.

A state law that took effect this month requires increased oversight of indoor day camps as a way to ensure that children are in safe environments.

"The rules are "strict. But it's always for a good reason," said Byrne, who oversees the town's day camps. "It's about the safety of the children.""

Funny how as society goes on we seem to need more and more rules, restrictions and bureaucracy. Society must have been a really dangerous place for people and kids in previous generations.

Of course back then they made the mistake of trusting the ordinary adults who supervised and were in charge of the events and camps and clubs and so on.

Now that we cannot trust ordinary people to look after the kids we badly require more and more bureaucracy.
